DID NOT EXPECT This Experience In The PHILIPPINES | Open FILIPINO GRAVE In Mountains

I had heard about hanging coffins and graves in the mountains of the Philippines, and had seen some in Sagada. But this moment in Mankayan Benguet I truly DID NOT EXPECT.
In this video you will see an open grave, but there is local culture behind it...
Here in the mountains Igorots have different burial traditions. Not only will you see me experience something unexpected, but you will get to see a beautiful mountain town that is "off the beaten path" here in Benguet. With beautiful views and friendly locals... Mankayan is a wonderful place to connect locally!
I DID NOT EXPECT THIS IN THE PHILIPPINES. Really, this is one of those surprising adventures!

The locals here in this area opened this grave for me (I did not ask), and they informed me that from time to time people will do so and give an offering for different reasons. I mean no disrespect and just wanted to share my local experience with everyone. I truly did not expect this moment to happen. Did you know that in the mountains Igorots have many different and unique burial practices?

Kyle, you know that there is a saying that the reason why vegetables grow healthy in the mountain province is because of healthy soils. And the soils are healthy because those human remains becomes the soils "pataba" (fertilizers) :) Yummy veggies !! :D

iyaman (kankanaey of thank you) kulas for this cordillera adventure. igorots have been misrepresented in school textbooks and even in the congress just recently. these videos of yours are way better to be used in the academe than the department of education's textbooks. this is more than an adventure it is breaking misrepresentations and authentically showcasing diversity and respect.. iya-iyaman...

You were in my mother's hometown, which is Atok...My father is also originally from Buguias so you can imagine how stoked I am that you are actually there and you know what else is cool about this, I am presently living in Alberta, Canada, in a town called Fort Mcmurray!!!....

Very interesting tradition of opening the graves. I don't understand it but I think you handled it very respectfully. I agree that WE should not open any of their graves, as we are not from their traditions.
