Its not same criteria every year. Many circumstances come in for each year. For instance, Cannavaro played in div2 in 2006 but won because of wc- while in 2014, 2018 and 2010 a wc winner didnt win it@@PeacePeace-xw8wc

Fair comment, I think its very easy to miss Emi's Prem contribution as he isn't as dramatic as he is when playing for Argentina although he does enjoy getting into the heads of opposition fans still. Joking aside, every keeper improves each year I am sure. From Villa's POV Emi has had to adopt Emery's way of playing. And he was crucial to our end of season run and this season thus far too. Under Emery he has stepped up and improved his game in a number of ways: ball distribution both out to the wing and midfield is now more controlled and accurate; he is far more comfortable on the ball now as playing out from the back is a crucial part of Villa's game and is exemplary as our sweeper keeper. I am biased of course as a Villa fan but I do stand by his improvements otherwise Emery would have sold him.

Just look at the domestic form of barca lest season thay had the best defense in the world last season domestically they only consided 12 goals before securing the title and than played the b team in the remaining games when they consided more goals towards the end of the season I think ter was on like 12 goals consided in 34 league games what more can you ask a goal keeper to do this is an individual award we should look at stats not trophies trophies are won by teams

There is no argument that Stegen's clean record is exemplary as his the rest of his game. Generally speaking these awards are subjective but maybe with goalkeepers there is a case to be made that stats truly reflect how well a player has done in a year. But regardless of everything clearly being part of the team who wins the WC has a bigger impact on voting.

Difference is Martinez was amazing for Argentina whole tournament, Ter Stegen performed great vs trash teams. When it came against great teams kept conceding, just like el classico on the weekend. Trying to stop shots with 1 hand and missing the ball completely.

A good question indeed. Given the online hate, money, distractions and the glitz that come with it, being a footballer in the past is much easier on the mental side of things. Bounou deserved the Yashin trophy in my opinion. He was the best La Liga GK, won the Europa League and did a fantastic WC with Morocco with very few goals conceded and none conceded in the penalty shootout against Spain. I'm a lifetime Villa fan, but Martinez wasn't the goalie of the world cup. Sure, he made some good saves (as he should at his level), but there were a couple of other keepers that played way better all around during the world cup.

Both Stegen and Allison are absolutely elite keepers as is Ederson. But to say Emi is awful at club level is a ridiculous statement to make. He played a significant part in ensuring Villa locked in the 7th spot and has also been a big part of our success thus far.

It was not Ballon dor , it was world cup trophies. All the voting journalist are defienelty not watching Premier league- Its way too tough, scoring in thsi league and winning is the most difficult thing to achieve. But i guess EPL has less influence. Emiliano Martinez is a very good goalkeeper but I think these individual awards he’s winning is making him a little overrated in my opinion and I’m not even kidding. At the World Cup he made a crucial save on Randal Kolo Muani in the final against France and that save meant a lot for Argentina because without it they don’t win the World Cup and he did have some saves in big moments but he was not the best goalkeeper in the world as Thibaut Courtois Mike Maignan Marc Andre Ter Stegen Ederson Nick Pope and Alisson were far more consistent than him and he’s not even the best goalkeeper in the premier league, if you’re not the best goalkeeper in the world and your own league you won the Yashin Trophy it doesn’t make any sense and he’s a good keeper and he reminds me of what we saw from Divock Origi at Liverpool where he did absolutely nothing yet scored some big goals and Martinez had a good season at Aston Villa as well but at the World Cup he didn’t have a lot to do but then made an incredible save to win Argentina the World Cup in the final and he was not the best goalkeeper even at the tournament as well. He’s not the best keeper in the world he’s very annoying too and I don’t wanna disrespect him but you can argue that Emiliano Martinez is become a little overrated even though that save in the World Cup final was unbelievable.

Believe or not...halloween is not as widely celebrated......the whole concept of dressing like ghouls during halloween is so commercialised by americans.....same for dressing like sluts for adults in bars....

He barely scrapes world class on a handful of occasions. He can’t do that consistently and his performance in the World Cup was a bit of a fluke. Completed overrated
