It's a too dangerous mission and the titan occupants knew that. They signed a contract, in other words no one needed to help them, which is a good thing. We were supposed to let them sink and just leave them there. The government was actually extra nice that day for at least bringing something back up to the surface.

This whole story is bogus and should focus on Stockton Rush and the massive hubris that trailed this Princeton legacy like toilet paper stuck to your shoe after you go to a poorly maintained public bathroom. The public trusts engineers and as such we cross bridges and board airplanes because we trust that what they build is safe. The National Society of Professional Engineers, whose members sign off on drawings of bridges and buildings, states that “Engineers shall hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public.” In Canada, many engineers wear the iron ring, after swearing to “not henceforward suffer or pass, or be privy to the passing of, bad workmanship or faulty material,” as written by Rudyard Kipling and first used in 1922. Instead, we got lots of bragging about all the things he had done, such as fly DC-8s without being able to independently corroborate it. That's what i'm wondering as well. Maybe the sound was caught by the titan's transport boat, or some other long distance equipment. Not necessarily the rescue team. Pretty sure i remember there being talk of a military equipment far away detecting the implosion. This being confirmed or not, idk.

When the implosion happened, their death was instantaneous. Before the sub imploded, they had awareness of the problems going on...they knew , they were in trouble. They were trying to go back to the surface but the sub did not oblige. It was barely going up, while cracking in the structure. They were not likely physically affected as they had air to breathe, but likely they were afraid, they would not make it back to the surface.

None of these documents were verified, a lot of people believe that they were just made up. It's easy to Google and find, but it isn't official and is most likely just some idiot kid that wrote it up

Yea but if i don't remember incorrectly, they reported a lot of potential banging sounds, some which were both inconclusive and some which were found to come from other sources. If the investigation team has released this as a potential sound that possibly could have come from the titan so long after the event, it's probably because they now have more sure reasons to believe so. So yes. Old news with possible stronger evidence.

@@planetluna9554 not in this case.. the bangs they're referring to were being heard for hours, if not days, after contact was lost.. not to mention they picked up the implosion on acoustics too.. before this banging.. it's more likely this was the sound of debris hitting the ocean floor, or bouncing off something than it was people banging trapped alive inside..

The entire situation is horrifying. It's a great example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should." It gives me anxiety when I imagine myself in their shoes, living out in real time this situation. Its crazy and hard to believe this is for "fun" and "educational." The Titanic is a corpse! The part that gets me the most is that they couldn't even see the ship with their own eyes, there were no windows. They watched everything from a screen. It's no different than watching footage of the Titanic. They could have stayed near a beach, a foot away from the surface, driven around in cirlces while watching Titanic videos and none of them would even know the difference. It's like if you went on vacation and spent the entire time in a small hotel room and watched someone livestream going out and actually doing things. What is even the point? You don't need to be there!

I hear many people confuse implosion with explosion. Explosion happens when the inside pressure increases pushing the walls OUTSIDE until the walls give way. Implosion happens when the OUTSIDE pressure is greater than the pressure inside forcing the Titan sub to be CRUSHED UNDER PRESSURE.

Something probably went wrong with the submersible and they lost communication and control -- and that might have lasted a while. But once the hull ruptured - they were dead in an instant.

That timing has been evaluated between the time the communication stopped and the moment a military ship picked up a spike . They figure out, it was the implosion and it was not, long after, the contact was lost. That is good news as they did not linger too long, wondering if they could make to the surface. The implosion took a fraction of a second, without any pain.......they were gone.

We already know they didn't make it to the bottom before the vessel imploded because of the range of debris that was scattered.. if the banging that went on for days was actually theirs, this would mean they'd have made it to the ocean floor where the vessel would then be resisting the maximum amount of pressure it would endure. So this story is hard to believe in the first place..

The only comfort is even if it was them, it imploded so fast they didn't even know they were dead. So yes they were probably banging knowing something was wrong but when it did happen they were gone before they knew it. I guess it's some comfort

This might sound bizarre, but when I tried to imagine a sudden death without the slightest bit of forewarning--just an instantaneous end of one's existence--I found that even more disturbing than having at least an inkling before hand that one's end was nigh. I don't mean that I hope the passengers experienced terror. But Stockton Rush? Oh, yes. And I'm sure he did.

I feel bad for Nargolet and the kid, but I'm glad Stockton Rush had to suffer for his arrogance and stupidity.

It is very possible they may have been alive for some time before the implosion. We just don't know what happened and likely never will. A total power loss is possible, which would have caused them to descend into an implosion. Either way, people love to dismiss everything and say "they went out fast". You simply don't know that.

I have read the information they gave us, that came from the mother ship. They were communicating and going down at a rather fast rate. Before they got close to the Titanic, the sub was seriously cracking so they decided to abort the dive and go back up. That was a problem as it was going up very slowly. The mother ship got in touch with the engineers, wanting to know, what they could do to go up faster. In the mean time, the communication between the sub and the mother ship stopped. That specific time was picked by a military ship that was monitoring sound waves in the ocean, nearby. They figured out, the spike they witnessed , happened at the time, the communication stopped. So ? it was the time of the implosion. They blew up , when they stopped communicating. It is a good sign as they did not mentally "suffer" very long. They had air, so they were breathing, just concerned about not going up, fast enough. That was it. Indeed the implosion killed them in a fraction of a second. No time for pain........gone.

Not true. Nato has audio of the sun imploding. It was within a few hours of leaving the surface. The sound has been analysed and is definitely an implosion. This noise is days later. Who knows who or what was doing this.

The US Coast Guard and US Airforce searched for the lost submersible. Why didn't the US Navy participate in the search? The US Navy already knew there were no survivors. A US Navy submarine was listening on SONAR and heard when the submersible imploded. The US Navy knew there was no hope for the submersible.

“Most” of the time, multiple branches will not work together or at least divide up the tasks for an operation. In this case, the coast guard had assets in the water while the Air Force offered aircraft in the search. Also, the navy likely didn’t have assets close enough like the coast guard did, so it was just natural that the CG would take the lead

They knew in their hearts what happened, but on the off chance they heard some random piece of sea trash or an outer component of the submersible implode, rescue crews had to keep searching. That’s why they didn’t tell everyone what they heard.

This guy was a pilot all his life, and he even had a pilot simulator that he would play when he wasn't working. Theory is that he test drove many flights trying to find a route that would put him outside of radar. He never finished the route in the last game he played because he never intended to. So he knew exactly when and how to disappear so his legacy can be romanticized as a great mystery. Then he crashed in the ocean in the middle of nowhere.

No, it's HAUL. Stockton Rush was using a repurposed U-HAUL trailer and an Xbox. Both highly trusted brands.

The death was so fast it probably was painless and they didn’t even know what happened. However the pure fear of knowing something was wrong and we’re in trouble and there’s no escape would be horrific! RIP

It was actually slow and painful, imagine sticking your head in a vice and slowly closing it shut, the eyes will pop out, skulk slowly crack, lungs decompress, body will feel like its boiling, eventually the head will explode like a grenade.

They say it in the very last sentence of the video - the sub imploded, and everyone died instantly. They were crushed so quickly and forcefully that there is 0 chance for any survivors. Unless the knocking is morse code for SOS or something like that, it wouldn’t change my mind

I never would've set foot on that thing.

They knew what was going to happen. The glass probably started to crack and there was a slight buckle in the metal and then gone in a second.

That knocking was a reminder that your cars extended warranty is up

It's probably just more pieces of the sub breaking and imploding. There's no way someone could survive down at that pressure especially once the sub imploded

I doubt it was from the sub, mainly because it was in a solid rythem. And im sure I heard the sound was picked up after they confirmed the sub had imploded?

Banging on the hull? It was carbon fibre, experts wrote off the possibility of it being Titan early on for this reason.

They might have known they were in trouble. *But the actual implosion happened so fast that their brains wouldn't have had time to process anything before disintegrating.*

No, they died instantly. It's literally impossible for anyone to die gradually from a deep sea implosion at depths that deep. However, they likely knew something was terribly wrong and must've been absolutely terrified.

IF they lived long enough, repeating the message at certain intervals makes more sense than randomly banging frantically to get attention. But they died in the quick implosion- it wasn't them.

Those banging sounds could have been something else. Since they lost communication around 3500 feet deep, that’s probably when the sub imploded. I find it highly unlikely after losing communication that they made it to the seafloor in complete darkness without the submersible imploding.

Imagine the banging weakened the hull and caused the implosion

Theres an intentional change made by this "documentary" just to make itself relevant: The sonar noise was cropped and pitched to sounds "metallic bangs". Theres some +6 months old videos with original sonar sounds of this rescue on youtube (the autenticity was unproved until now) with the exactly same "bangs", but in its real form and quality. Its sounds more something crumbling and popping than bangs, but the interpretation is personal.

I don’t believe this is them banging. It is widely accepted the sub imploded within hours of decent. They had all perished before the search began.

yes they did and yes they had time to be terrified. An implosion is death in less than a second. No pain. Before the implosion they knew, things were not going well. They had aborted the dive and were trying to surface, which they could not do.

It was from someone/something else. Sound travels very far and efficiently in water. Since it was every 30 minutes it was probably someone who had a routine job. The US military heard the implosion and I believe the mothership did too.

I knew it. I knew that it was most likely them trying to reach people from above. This makes me feel worse that they now knew that they were in eternal doom…😢

Pssst, They heard the Banging on Sonar Every 15-30 Minutes and Said that the Day It IMPLODED. However They Died Instantly as The Submersible Imploded, Banging was to tell Sonar they were in Trouble and a Plea for Help However once the Hull Breached it was Instantaneous Death and They Never Felt a Thing. Morse code is sent using electricity. A dash sound is made by holding the electric key in contact slightly longer than one would for making a dot sound. How would you make a dash sound banging with a wrench?

I thought the implosion occurred before the search began? Unless it coincidentally didn't implode until they ran out of oxygen, there's no way that sound could have been made by humans on the Titan.

SR said that the pressure would compress the acrylic window 3/4 inches inward. It's possible that they were gathered looking thru the window when the window couldn't take the pressure anymore and popped inward striking everyone in its path. In the first moments after the acrylic popping inward like popping the cork from a champagne bottle, there is no water in its trajectory except the passengers, and it probably went thru them like a missile
