Can confirm, I bought a Meta Quest 3 a few days ago and im a massive apple guy. $3500 is just an insane amount of money for a product like this

I still struggle with that, and having a professional history doesn't matter. In fact, it frequently works against you because techniques in the pro world don't necessarily translate into the language of social media! I'm rooting for you! I have the quest 3 and its pretty good, I play it with my little nephew mostly. But I hope too see a higher res quest 4 with better finger and hand tracking.

Kinda feel like Apple went with this pro model first to create as much “wow” factor as possible. Cutting back from Micro oled screens alone would probably save $1000 then there is getting rid of the front facing screen as well. Apple could easily get this under $2000 and still keep the sensor package and processor plus the healthy apple margins

I bought Quest 3 bc of the Vision pro. Quest is cool, games are cool, UI needs a update but its sufficient. Quest is more of gaming device now at least, and does that very well with the controllers in my opinion.

I love my Quest 2, been wanting to update to 3.

any of them should have an option "follow me" for the windows so you don't have to hold them. maybe another button, or a simple voice command when you are holding them

You can change the efective distant hold the screen grab bar and lift up or down and it bring it closer or further away keeping the same visual size

All I can do is move the screen(s) left or right. The only app that lets me move the windows closer or away is KZread VR app. What am I missing?

apple made the bad decision not to add big screen or make a big screen for vision pro

I have to admit, the Apple Vision Pro pushed me to try the XReal Air 2 Pro glasses. They're great for productivity and entertainment. But more importantly, they look more like Ray-Ban sunglasses and I can wear them all day while at work to create virtual screens for my laptop

I owned the Xreal Air 1 for a time and they aren't bad but I found that they were incredibly unreliable. I'm thinking about doing a video on that whole area of glasses as displays and what Meta is doing with Ray Bans/Amazon with Alexa Glasses. That's the market that I feel Apple should've really pursued until the technology that they really wanted sufficiently matured.

I love those closing comments "They're basically the same thing. If Meta can just do all of those things Apple excels at, but they don't, then their basically same headset will actually be the same."

Not quite what I said, but Meta does have strengths that could keep them very much in the conversation. Meta and Apple aren't as far apart as one would think with a cursory glance. Thanks for watching! I appreciate the comment. Gave me a lot to think about, honestly.

I'm of the opinion that the two only look like they are close to one another if you only take a cursory glance.

​@@bujin5455I own both and it's actually true, Quest 3 does everything Vision Pro does but nearly all better.... However not everything Quest 3 does Vision Pro can do .... So price wise not worth it really, it's only meant for dumv guys with 0 IQ who care less about money and more about getting latest and greatest every time new hardware drops (that's me lol)

I Didn't know about Quest until the Vision release. I started researching and bought one after

I will take the $3000 saving. There isn't a VR/MR headset to date that is worth anywhere near that kind of money. Great objective video though, thanks.

Wow, that Brink Traveller looks like the missing Vision Pro style environments experience for Quest. Anyone got a 25% discount link?

How did you use Metas Remote Desktop in passthrough mode without being in WorkRooms and allowing you to change the screensize?

Great question! The Meta Remote app works just like the Meta Browser. When you download and launch the app, it's already in passthrough. All you need to do is link the Remote App with the Desktop client, and it connects. I'll definitely do a video walking people through the process. The big thing with the Remote app is that you CAN adjust the screen size. You can't in Workrooms. Everything in the video with me making those screen adjustments and pulling it closer or pushing it away? All Remote Desktop.

Oh cool, didn't know there was a Meta Remote App... didn't show up until I searched for it. I tried using it but didn't like it as much due to the resolution not showing as clear as I like compared to Workrooms or Immersed. @@ShoFuturistic

I just downloaded Brink Traveller. How do I enable the background in my UI outside the game? Ngl, I'm bummed that it requires controllers since I haven't taken those out of the case in months.

Go to your system level-settings. Go to Personalization. You’ll see a bunch of backgrounds. One of them should be the Brink traveler add on. Install. Apply. When you go back to your personal space, the Grand Canyon view should be your new home! 🎉

@@ShoFuturistic Yep, it isn't there. I can see the asgard's wrath and the Myst environments as well as the meta defaults but there is no Brink Traveller environment visible.

here is what people have to consider, VR headsets are not something new, we have had arcades with VR since the 1990s, I played those and they were heavy, bulky, came with a chair where it was the actual computer, I'm a metal head and my neck still got tired that time after wearing just the helmet. Today both companies have shrink it, to a far more comfortable commercial product. However, Meta is on their third iteration, Apple is on the first. So I expect a lot more from Apple.

I actually think the controllers for the Meta Quest 3 are a big selling point for the system. It makes it way more versatile in what you can do. Including gaming (a big selling point of VR)

I agree. I have Quest 2 and always try to be up to news about VR. And Quest 2 is really great gaming VR and fun, with pretty good price. News, features and hardware improvement on Quest 3. Makes it very good successor to 2's VR with pretty good start in AR space too. And maybe it is pricier than 2 but still the amount of improvements justifies the price. And makes it on par of mainstream Consoles. I think that Apple Vision Pro is more like a "Beta" product. It was lunched to test the waters to get the feedback what people want and where should the improvements be. Of course, it has great hardware and is overall complete AR devices. But still I don't think that Apple can justify price of 3500$. (I think the battery is biggest weakness after price) If they continue with this price point even with improvements I don't think that Apple can dominate the market. Of course, it will have its consumer base. But most likely it will be people who have everything else apple and will make it easier to connect it to the eco system. Overall, I am think that Meta is dominating the VR space now. And am waiting for Quest 4 to upgrade. Which I believe will be the complete package of XR experience and maybe still won't have camera which can compete with Apple, if they try to make Quest 4 same price as 3. But with price and overall advantage in Gaming space, I still think that Meta will be overall winner. In addition, I won't be surprised if next gen Quest has LLaMA integration, which may lose to GPT-4, but hey it still is a strong competitor and before Quest 4 comes will most likely be as powerful as GPT-5.

I would ask about security. One of Apples main selling points is its privacy and security while Facebook has “issues”. I trust Apple, I don’t trust Meta but to get the Vision Pros functionality on a Quest, you have to give it access to all of your devices. Is that worth saving the $3000?

I bought Q3 other day to watch movies and play around with my computer. Thanks for not talking about games like bunch of grown men about Q3. I have never seen so many damn kids in my life about playing games. What app you recommend for playing any type of movie???

I love BigScreen. It's probably my favorite app on Quest and it's totally free. It connects to your existing Plex library if you have one. The rendered environments are excellent, too! I'll do a video about it, as well as the other useful non gaming tools on Quest!

To a degree the meta has achip made for vr, its optimised for it, the m2 is optimised for flat screen mida aplications on i pad, not gaming. Good luck​@a-terrible-fate532
