Watching the review and how to play, I think it's one that I'd like to pick up. Mainly I think with the small footprint this is a pub game, I can bring it to a brewery for something small and fast to play. Or I like games that size which I can play solo while I'm watching a sporting event. With the World Cup coming up, I could see having that out and playing it while I'm also then half keeping an eye on the match.

I'm more with Camilla on this one, I feel like it was a game first and they included a set of dice out of necessity as a game component, not that it was a game included to sell a set of dice. You really couldn't just leave out a percentile die, or even swap it with a second D10, because I feel that would just cause more questions than it answers. The 7-die polyhedral set is iconic enough itself that only having six dice or two D10s would leave people scratching their heads, and of course you'd be missing a die if you truly did want to use your 'Dice Conquest' set in an RPG setting.

I agree. I feel like someone wanted to make a simple one deck dungeon crawler game...but also wanted to be able to use DnD dice with it, as opposed to regular D6 dice.

Man I’d love for this game to just have endless expansions. The base game is a good system but it almost feels like a demo. I appreciate getting it out and going, but I’d be happy with a few more decks of monsters, skills, whatever, to add some oomph. Maybe even a 3 game mini campaign or something.

My friends and I really enjoy this one as a great pub or coffee shop game. It’s easy to teach people you meet, has a lot of puzzly decisions and player interaction, and it finishes up about when your beer does. I now carry it sleeved in a cool leather deck case along with my nice Wyrmwood dice set and it’s a really nice thing to just have in the backpack when I’m out.

I found out it's a WizKids game and looked at the box, and immediately understood the marketing angle. This is going on game store filler shelves in the RPG section between the shelves of die sets and the big box D&D/Pathfinder/etc. sets. Not that this has anything to do with the game's relative quality, but transparent marketing does backfire a bit sometimes. It looks like a good "time waster" (better name?) game, which is a niche I actually really appreciate, especially in solo-able forms. I prefer quick little physical games to popular mobile digital time wasters, and this kind of game scratches that itch.

I think the polyhedral dice set is needed incase you don't have a set. It is also awesome that percentage dice was not changed for this game in case you want to use your own loved dice set or replace a lost one, the rules will still reflect using a standard set of dice. I may store this with a mini dice set.

Came to say the same thing, ODD has a campaign, which raises the replayabllity i think, this one has nicer art and quicker to play through.. i cant see me picking this up yet, but if an expansion was released with a bigger selection of bosses, monsters, traps etc I think id be tempted.

The d100 issue wouldn't really bother me but I understand Zee's point. I think that people less used to a full polyhedral dice set are more likely to have issues with that and those that are used to them don't need the dice bundled with the game. I'm not going to go out of my way for it but I may pick it up if I see it going cheap

A lot of Dungeon Crawlers are big board games requires a lot of time to setup, a lot of components and have a lot of complicated rules. I have been looking for card games that give similar experience with no setup times and simple to teach. I wonder how is this compare to "set a watch"? I may like this art style better.

Math wizard here. The % die hang up would have easily been resolved by readjusting the monster's total difficulty by a number equal to the average total of all 7 dice; keeping the % die' total value. Which lands at 88. Then just adjust the creatures difficulty up or down accordingly.

I agree with Zee’s thoughts. As someone who doesn’t play RPG’s, having a full set of RPG dice doesn’t really matter to me, so the percentage die issue seems a bit annoying. I assume that the game is pretty balanced so that you need all the dice in the package. It does remind me a little of Regicide except with dice, so that’s kind of cool. If this had a different theme and had a little more variability, I would be more interested. I could see how someone who enjoys RPG’s would be drawn to this though (provided the dice are a good quality that they would want to use them in a RPG session as well).

Not that this game is a "travel game" but with it's small box & foot print, it will definitely be bought for such events as well as a time filler or for those nights when I want a lighter faster game and I don't want to play Sagrada or Canvas. Plus it looks like it could be played multi-handed solo.

This game looks super lucky, but ai like the idea of a game you can take out and finish in 20 min and feel some kind of accomplishment. I think I will wait until it is on sale, as the price right now is a little high for a filler. For example, a lot of those short Ticket To Ride games are at a lower price point.

Stupid thing is, if you're old school, you don't need the d%, you can just use 2d10s (or one d10 rolled twice).

  • @pluvia33
    @pluvia33 Жыл бұрын

One of my favorite things about Pathfinder 2nd Edition is that they almost entirely got rid of percentile dice and instead use a "flat DC" roll on a d20. They still use the "d%" for a few things, but it's very rare for very specific situations. In the core rulebook, I think the only time a d% is used is for a single magic item. It's used in the GM Guide a lot more, but mostly for random generation of items and such on large tables.

I 100% agree with this review. The game is not amazing but it does what it does well and I find myself playing it a fair amount. I wonder if WizKids will do a Marvel version. If they do I will probably buy that one too. As far as the dice go I like the included dice but the percentage die is the one hang up to teaching this game to folks. So I just replaced my dice with a set with two standard d10s instead.

If you have a good imagination you can create a little story narrative to this game and pretend you’re playing a lite d&d campaign.

Sounds like a game I would like if they had built enough into it, which they did not. I want at least 12 characters with at least 6 final bosses, 12 traps, and 100 monsters (that you can choose a subset, randomly or otherwise) with each expansion adding at least 3 characters, one final boss, 3 traps and 15 monsters. I also would rather not have the dice included as I have thousands of dice. Since that won't happen, I guess I'm out. Of course, that depends on the price.
