She has said in interviews that singing in the lower register is where she is really comfortable. Listen to Human to hear a masterclass real contrelto sing. She has extreme control of her voice with the ability to change the color of her tone. If it was just manipulation it would be impossible to do that. She is working at singing higher in her chest voice to expand her range.

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach I think it's a little like Dimash. He himself said that he's a tenor, yet he likes to sing in a higher mix even when he's just goofing around off stage or at the airport. His coach told me that he always loved the high notes, which is probably why it's so well developed. During his first year or two with him he didn't allow him to sing high at all since he insisted that he develop a solid foundation in his technique first. I just thought you might find this tidbit interesting

No need to worry about Diana using her voice manipulation as a crouch . She can do it all , and you'll see that the more you listen to her . На то человека и называют уникальным за уникальность,одними тренировками не сделаешь все и очень много зависит от природных данных,если бы у Дианы не было именно того что есть,имеется в виду строение ее эластичных голосовых связок и невероятный полифонический эффект то Диана пела возможно и сопрано или меццо-сопрано,но природа одарила ее именно тем редким даром и это очень хорошо ведь она выпадает из стандартов,вот это и есть уникальность.

I would’ve thought you would’ve realized by now coach that she is a contralto if you listen and look closely you can see that she’s very comfortable singing those notes. I’ve been teaching Music for 50 years and Diana is a very rare dramatic contralto

In order not to doubt, you just need to find interviews and live performances of Diana, without the possibility of studio effects, when there are a lot of people around and their voices get into the microphone. Then all doubts about the range of her voice will disappear by themselves 😉

There was an issue with Diana's voice at the time of her first appearance in "You Are Super!". The judges heard a slight hoarsness and on occasion Diana's voice just refused to work. The show organizers had her examined by a phoniatrist, who discovered nodules on Diana's vocal cords. The doctor attributed them to early childhood trauma (quite a horrible story that came to haunt Diana at the time of the show); Diana was given medication and put on voice rest for a month. Also at the time she had had singing lessons, but no top-notch professional instruction.The treatment proved successful, Diana started working with a first-class professor and ever since then there have been no issues with her voice. It's just that crazy larynx of hers that invariably surprises the listener. :)

Kia ora. If you want re-assurance, check out her covers of Aha's "Take on Me", Cabella's "Havana" and, for some lower range goodness, her cover of Rag and Bone Man's "Human" - her growl is gorgeous! She's said that her voice depened during pubery and she's actually had to work at maintaining, and extending, her upper register - rather than the other way round.

Diana’s natural register is extremely low. Example, for her ‘Human’ was a ‘lazy’ song. Easy to sing. It’s actually higher tones that she struggles with at times. A professional can't tell the difference between vocals and effects? All voice coaches who try to explain Diana forget to say one simple thing. It takes years of hard work to learn one technique. And Diana has a huge arsenal of techniques. And she's not even 18 years old. Look at her singing when she was ten years old. She was already singing then in a way that many singers can't as an adult.

I was meaning you can't tell how she is creating the sound just by listening to her. There are a number of ways to create certain sounds. I would have to work with her to be more precise. ;) I don't like to use definite when talking about singers because I can never be 100% sure without having them standing in front of me. You can't see the instrument after all.

Her name is “Lisa Gerrard” and If you or your subscribers would like to hear what the voice of an angel sounds like, then please KZread “ Lisa Gerrard”( singing) “Sacrifice” It’s the first video or maybe the second, if you have to scroll It’s a live performance in front of a small crowd with only her low key organ instrumentalist named “Pieta Bourke” accompanying her. Please KZread the 8 minute rendition posted by “Ed garski” ( thank god someone taped it or this amazing performance would have been lost forever. To my knowledge there were no official versions. If you love unique female mesmerizing angelic voices, then Lisa’s dramatic contralto will transport you to God’ s world. And she does transport you because when you look at her body-especially her face-you will notice it’s IMMOBILE, doesn’t move throughout the 8 minute performance as if her Voice is channeling God’s world and it IS because in an interview she asserts that all the words in the song were MADE UP and not in any dictionary, and furthermore not from any country on planet earth. I’m hoping you will find the time to privately or publicly react-especially if you need healing or you are stressed during these troubled covid times. I listen to this about once a month. I'm not going to be an internet troll because this was your first exposure to Diana. She is 15 here so very, very early in her development. She is a natural contralto, with a large larynx which sits pretty low even relaxed. Most vocal coaches also agree that she is polyphonic, so her sound is natural without having to add effects on top of her voice.

Should you need to see her sustain her lower register I'd suggest looking at her version of Human from the same show, she was only 14 years old when she sang this, Human and the amazing Rechenka.
