Dian Fossey Secrets in the Mist: Murder on the Mountain (Full Episode)

Ойын-сауық

Everyone who knew Dian Fossey was shocked by her brutal murder, but not surprised. She'd made many enemies and long feared for her life. An inept police investigation provided few clues but eventually someone was charged - gorilla researcher Wayne Maguire. He fled the country before being sentenced to death and has lived with the consequences ever since. Did he really kill her, or has he been the victim of a 30 year injustice? And if not him, then who?

The vision of Dian and her beloved Digit brought tears to my eyes. Just imagine having the humble honor of experiencing such a pure, intimate relationship with a mountain gorilla….Only 280 were left in the wild at the time of her demise. Yet, in the midst, Dian & Digit shared a bond beyond comprehension at the time….Both, voluntarily sought each other out to spend time together…..we MUST NOT allow the beauty of that relationship to disappear from history and to be tainted or overtaken by their horrific, nonsensical deaths. God bless all of our earthly ANGELS who commit their lives, the Virunga Rangers, the Rangers who protect our rhinos & others who have sacrificed their lives, to protect His creatures (ALL of His creations)….great and small, He love us ALL. ❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

Not only did Diane lose her life but what about Rwelekana and his family? A father and husband's life was taken because of corruption and the way the investigation was handled by the Rwandan government. My gut tells me that some of the government officials were aware of the gold smuggling to foreigners and they profited from it. They killed Diane because of the information she had and she was in the way. Rwelekana & Wayne were easy scapegoats. It's so disturbing all the way around.😔

I remember when I was 18 yrs old going to the movie theater to see Gorilla's In The Mist and being so blown away at how hard Dian fought for those gorrilas and how emotionally close she was able to get to them. She had a real relationship with them, they became her family. Digits death was gut wrenching and Dian really struggled with that, but it made her fight harder. Her death was such a tragedy, but if she knew how much light her life and death put on those gorillas and waking people up to their secret life and how close they were to being gone forever I think she would not wanted it any other way. She really was a warrior woman for those gorillas.

She was. However, at the end she was utterly messed up and decompensating by using drugs/alcohol. This is fairly well known among the staff at Kigali. The movie rocked my soul & touched me deeply! There’s not to many stories that affected me like this 1! She’s such an inspiration & had a true calling to help the Gorillas. It’s such a tragedy that she was killed. These poachers are so dangerous & still are, yet they will lose in the end. The structure behind poaching is extremely complex. There is a lot of money & power behind them & that is why they get away w/ it. And when there are no animals left, they will find something else. It’s a devastating cycle &a deep blow to both the animals & in nature.

Because of, "Gorillas of the Mist," I watched when I was 12-14yrs old. I become more aware of endangered species. Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Bonobo Chimps, Orangutans have truly grasped my curiosities. As an adult I'm thankful to be inthe generation where we were able to not only test their DNA but break it down more to understand the genes and the closeness of out or relations and the distance that is minute between each species and us. How we have changed since understanding DNA more and realizing our close relations to other species and how far we are from some species. Wayne Mcguire, thank you for selflessly helping the world see the suffering and struggling gorillas. Then going to another part of the world and helping humans survive their devastation in this same world different part. You are an incredible human being. I dont know many murderers that care for animals and other humans ads selflessly and deeply as you do. Also what motivation would you have had. You lost everything you had worked so hard for and a dear friend. An incredible mind he assisted daily and was in awe of. That was were he belonged in the world why would he kill the person that brought him there. He is innocent in my book.

They told me they knew who did it, and even pointed to a group of men in a local pub and told me that one of them did it at the behest of a European. They never mentioned gold mining but did think it was a zoo in Europe that was worried about getting caught poaching baby gorillas. I felt they were conjecturing a bit. The people who killed Ms Fossy were savages. Not even human beings. Such a devout champion of the mountain gorilla. Such a tragic loss.

By far this was one of my favorite movies, documenting her legacy when gorillas in the mist came out. Sigourney weaver did an amazing job. I learned much more watching this documentary as well. Thank you for sharing, God bless all, who care about endangered species.🙏🏻✝️

She did not deserve to die the way she did. She is the reason that Mountain Gorillas are still around even though some get killed do to pouching each year. Shes a hero in my book. Ive always had a fascination with mountain Gorillas since I was a kid. They are beautiful majestic animals.

It may have been her trying to cover her head/face during the attack and from the blow her hair may have been cut with the machete leaving it in her hand.. Just a thought. Very tragic no matter the truth.
