In 2015 I was recently "retired", something I was not too good at, but I am getting better at it, and was spending a lot of time in my favorite local gun shop. One of the employees had to have some surgery and was going to be out for several weeks. The owner offered me a job there while the guy was in the hospital...my wife said "TAKE IT, you will spend less time there and can get some things done around the house on your days off!" HAHA, she's so funny. I fooled her. I went fishing on my days off. 🤣 In the spirit of helping my fellow man, I returned ALL the money they paid me in exchange for firearms that had been waiting to be taken "off the street" to prevent crime. Kind of a "gun buy back" program. Like I said, I am always thinking selflessly of my community. Anyway...we sold a lot of the DB9 first generation guns but we also got a lot of them back! Reliability was the constant complaint. I am glad to see they kept working on it. They always impressed me as to their size and price point, but they HAVE TO BE reliable for CC. I hope they got it right now. The sight issue is probably a "locktite" fix. DB tried to make the pistol more attractive by making it compatible with Glock sights. They have to do it right, though. Seems like an easy fix for the factory. It is not a range gun, obviously. I can tell you that there is a demand for this handgun. People WANTED to buy them. If DB has got the issues fixed they will have a winner. No sights? No problem. Good shooting, Mr. Buffalo.

Thanks for the awesome comment. I love the stories like this! It is a snappy little booger and not a lot of fun to shoot but accurate for what it is. Like you said though reliability is KING. Time will tell how this one does. I might intentionally try to push it to it's breaking point, or my breaking point, whichever comes first!

NOTE: So, you need an Allen hex wrench for the SET SCREW on the new METAL sights for the first time you go to the range. Diamondback made EXCELLENT new Glock-compatible sights for the gen4 DB9, but they are expensive metal sights with a set screw, not cheap plastic jammed on sights like the Glock-made ones. Before you shoot for the first time, you may want to give the rear sight a little tightening, check it at the end, one time, and you should be good from then on. The Diamondback factory doesn't overtighten them before shipping. That allows folks to just push on them to adjust for windage. But this shows up in some KZread videos where the brand new out-of-box gun had it's sights loosen up at first firing. So, let's be smart and tighten them up on day One. That's all. By the way, the Diamondback sights are steel three-dot sights, so they are BETTER than Glock plastic vowel (U with an I) type sights. I snugged up my DB9 rear sights once with a small Allen hex wrench, and they've been solid for hundreds of rounds every since! I keep the Allen wrench in my range bag, but haven't needed it except to loan to other folks at the range. Love to carry my Diamondback DB9 everywhere, everyday. Enjoyed your video.

I bought the Gen4 and it works really good. I've shot many rounds through it and I've had zero jams. It's made really good and I've had no problems with it. It has a very heavy trigger pull, which I don't like but I don't think you would notice if you were in an emergency defense situation.

I pocket carried the CM9 for a few years but it lives in my safe since getting the P365. That looks like a good budget contender for many folks. A 7lb trigger on a light gun is a challenge for folks without lots of trigger time and probably too snappy for beginners.

Thank you for your videos. They are well done and I enjoy your conversations with us. I have mot had time to watch all of your reviews but all I have watched so far I have enjoyed. You are a talented shooter. Two of the semi autos you have reviewed are two that I own and appreciate: the new Diamondback DB9 Gen4 and the Remington R1 5” which you reviewed and also the 4-1/4” Commander version, which, except for the length, is identical. As short as the Diamondback is I shoot it quite accurately, which surprised us all. But, as you noted it is on the snappy side. I handle the snappiness pretty well but, I do wrap the first part of my trigger with tape when I am going to practice with it. That trigger needs redesigned so it won’t pinch the finger like you mentioned. You do nice work. Thanks, Fred Kumm Central, PA

I've been thinking about getting this pistol for a while now. It seems like they are getting harder to find so I was glad to see that you did a video on the DB9. In all the videos I've watched regarding the DB9 it seems that it has been extremely reliable. Also, the rear sight has come loose in quite a few videos. A couple of reviewers feel that the rear sight was shipped loose enough for shooters to go ahead and realize that they are adjustable. Lol, I don't know about that but thanks to seeing the reviews I will be checking the rear sight as soon as I get it and put a few rounds through it. I hope it's still shooting good for you, especially since I just ordered one, lol. I'm just looking for a 9mm (true) pocket pistol that's super small and reliable. It's not going to a competition pistol for me, just something that's easy to conceal and good for close quarter situations. I don't own any .380's and seeing that 9mm is cheaper than .380 in most places I'm glad I've stuck with the 9mm. Great review as usual Buffalo. Stay safe and God bless brother.

I have been doing a lot of research on carry guns. I was looking for something that wouldn’t print very much if at all. I am a personal trainer and I walk to work a lot. I’m using thunderwear deep concealed holster because I wear athletic shorts to work. After going to the gun show last weekend and holding different guns in my hand. This one felt the best. I really thought I was going to resort to a.380 but now I can carry a 9 mm without printing. Every review I’ve seen reported no malfunctions even with plus P ammo. I will be carrying 124 grain hollow points. I don’t think plus P is necessary. The site moving is an easy fix and with practice I believe I can operate the mag release just fine. For me it’s exactly what I was looking for.

Great review! I am a huge fan of small barrel guns, both 380 and Micro 9mm's. Own many have shot almost all of them. Have not shot the DB9 yet though. But this gun has me intrigued for sure. I am so sick of the hype of the P365 etc which is by the way a very over rated firearm. (a Group of 5 very experienced shooters at my club tested it and all of thought it was remarkably unremarkable.). I do love the Kahr Pm9 and love the size, but the fact that this gun is even lighter is a plus. I believe I will do well with the trigger as I love DAO and use to them. Much prefer them in a small gun. Do not want a light trigger nor need one. This gun has a lot going for it. Thanks for a great review. I love you You tubes, keep up the great work.

I might have to trade in my M&P Bodyguard 380 for a DB9 Gen 4. Good review. The rear sight coming loose happened to TheFireArmGuy in his review too, but for $200-ish I can live with needing to use LocTite to secure it.

Great video. How is the DB9g4 holding up so far and would you have a round count on it? Thanks again

Had to 'round off' a bit of 'extra' metal at the end/bottom of the trigger blade. Also rounded off the sharp corner on the bottom right side of the molded plastic trigger guard which was uncomfortable on my R middle finger, middle knuckle. No more discomfort/irritation noted.

You shoot the small guns well Buffalo. Do you still carry the CM9? The Firearms Guy had the same problem with his review of the DB9 rear sight.

Amazing good shooting. Seems to be only 1/4 inch shorter than Sig P365X in length and 1/2 inch in height but same with extended pinky base.

Buff , really enjoyed your review and got a Q for you...in your opinion do you think a replacement flat trigger (like Apex or Galloway)would be a serious consideration for the DB9 gen4?

You don't need no dang sights. And your big meat hooks just hides that pistol. So glad you did this gen 4 I have not seen this gen in the western part of the bluegrass. Seen the newer gen is better and yep sometimes I like the little guys and with me the only one working in the family have to watch my funds. Family comes first then my stuff. Might have to order one just to have around

It is not pleasant to shoot but that wouldn't matter in the heat of the moment. I am still hoping you get the bugs worked out of that little Spectrum. That was a great price if it works out to be reliable.
