Helpful video, thanks. I have a 2001 sierra with check engine light that recently came on. All servicing is up to date but i don't want to waste money on something I can fix myself. I have an OBD2 scanner on the way and this was very helpful to get me started. Prior to this video, I did not even know where to plug it in... LOL.

Is this sensor located in same place on my 99 Chevy Silverado that also has the 4.8 vortex? Sounds exactly like my problem. Seemed rough shifting gears earlier today on the freeway and a few times I smelled an odd odor when I first started truck. Then my service light just came on a minute ago. Aside from that, only difference noted in the truck would be my a/c getting warm. Compressor is only a few years old. And I know it's overdue for adding freon. So just out of curiosity, could that low freon level cause my engine light to come on?

@@ScottsGarage17 I hate to break it to you but that's actually a 1999 GMC sierra I have the exact same one, check on the door jam to check, but they will sell vehicles and say it a newer model to get more money out of your pockets.

I've only ever found it OBD2 readers to have a trapezoid plug. Please explain how to plug one in upside down. Second I understand a catalytic converter equals a Redox reaction with the contaminants in the exhaust. Question is. . What does a Cadillac converter do. Still looks like a pickup at the end of the video.

Roger Moser It is a trapezoid shape. I had turn turn the obdii reader 180 degrees from the upright position. That is what I meant by upside down. My understanding is that the catalytic converter burns leftover combustible fumes in the exhaust. Oxygen levels before and after the converter determine how well the converter is working and also allows the cpu to adjust the fuel mixture better.
