Diagnosing a Misfire with a Visual Inspection? (Teslong NTS 500)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

How to use a visual inspection to diagnose the cause of a misfire?
This 2011 Ford Escape has a P0301 Cylinder #1 misfire.
Parts cannon already fired spark plugs and ignition coils at it, and the next round is a PCM!
Once we narrow down the offending cylinder, the TESLONG NTS 500 dual camera endoscope lets us see what is wrong with this engine. Pretty cool stuff!

Never do a one Valve Valve job you’re just asking for trouble down the road. When you get the head of the vehicle do a complete head overhaul and even shave the head.A rounded valve margin or valve touliping is a sign of trouble which could also be caused by a Loose valve guide. Tearing down motors for 20 years I have learned that the first thing to go on most engines the top ring on the piston, exhaust valve guide and/or exhaust valve.Back in the 80s, LOL I saw my first endoscope in a Mercedes-Benz dealership and it blew my mind. Great review. Keep on rockin

i wonder if the guide backed out/moved or ran low/out of oil and the timing set is shot, it's possible to bend a single valve out of a pair, tolerances are never perfect. only other thing, is the seat moved from being overheated, which would mean warped head, gasket, block sealer in it. best bet, just slam in used engine

@@bryanlatimer-davies1222 A look at the bottom side of the head would be more practical, if the engine has high miles and the oil pump is at rear of engine, it's not uncommon for the valves in No. 1 cylinder to get sluggish from oil starvation and over heating, the oil is also a coolant. I've seen computer simulations of worn guides with insufficient lube, worn valve stems in said guides, high rpm, high heat and a peculiar thing occurs a harmonic vibration is set up and causes the valve stem to rock in the guide and for a micro-second the valve locks and is struck by the piston, also because of uneven oil distribution the front valve springs usually relax, old age helps.

That's cheating, but I cheat as well, just hook the air into the cylinder and listen for escaping air. I don't do traditional leak down testing, don't even own a tester. As a retired heavy line tech from Ford dealers it was never a necessity. Management wanted me to have one, but what the hell do they know. I always had some idiot manager second guessing my work, but every time they challenged me, I proved they were full of shit. I took to working under the maple trees at home rather than constantly battling idiot managers. That same dealer in Santa Barbara was closed by Ford for fraud perpetrated by these same managers. The Ford rep said "Congratulations, you guys are number one in the nation, on warranty claims, I am here to audit you" That is when I decided to move out of State and do my own thing. I didn't mind service writers, but, managers are totally useless.
