There is a distinction between melee weapons - clubs are highly effective against undead enemies, while swords are for flesh and blood monsters. (+50% vs -50% damage) Demons take normal damage from both. While axes aren't affected by this and do large damage, *all* axes in Diablo 1 are two-handed. After looking it up, Blacksmith Oil has another use - if you use it on something already at full durability, you'll permanently raise its max durability by +1, up to /100.

I can definitely hear the Bubsy 3D voice, my brother and I were unfortunate enough to have not known about the better games prior, because we skipped the SNES and Genesis right into the PS1

Wirt's VA, is Lani Minella who also voiced the witch. She's been in a lot of stuff. after looking over her jobs, wirt reminds me of Omochao, who she also voices.

Wirt's quest involvement was meant to be for the butcher. Each key quest usually involves at least 1 member of the town. Some of them are used multiple times. Originally you had to use the TP in Butcher's little room and it would bring you to The Butcher's Chamber. The Butcher's Chamber is what the characters generally reference when you talk about The Butcher. That part was just cut likely due to the cutscene not being finished. Wirt says to use the TP in his room backwards. When ppl talk about the Cow Level in Diablo 1 they usually mean The Butcher's Chamber. That is because some people used to edit the files to put it back into the game and the location they often put the red portal at was next to the Cows. The game would often crash if you didn't edit your files before you entered the level. It's because it tries to pull the cutscene data that was partially removed. The same is probably true for all of the removed content that you can play through in beelzebub mod. The Cows wasn't a normal trading spot so people often put things there that they either wanted to hide or custom hacked portals. There are better hiding spots but it's basically anywhere you can't physically see the item but can find it by knowing where it is with the mouse.

Those lower-level passages (crypt, catacombs, Hell) usually don't show up until you've been to those levels. Must be a Devilution feature that they're already open. Also, I remember having Cain identify an item that reduced max HP, which resulted in me dying in town.

The Oils are a new addition in Hellfire. Classic Diablo did not have any of those QoL oils that boosted equipment stats and the like, meaning the warrior was SOL when it came to there gear, if there equipment RNG as they got closer to the end of the game was subpar and they had below par numbers they were, again, SOL and had nothing to spend gold on but to gamble with Wart or the vendors premium goods hoping for better gear then they had. with the Oils Warriors, Rogues and Monks had something to spend cash on besides healing and mana pots. Warriors ideally get one level of town portal, identify and healing as baseline spells, only putting enough magic to keep leveling Healing when they have spare points not being pumped into vit, dex or str. you never need more then one level of identify and town portal. any other spell books should indeed go to the mage, Ogre will need every level of every spell he can get to become a unholy power house.

I will argue that fire wall and thunder wall should be on the warrior as well, so they can cast them into the doorway ahead of them.

@@ICountFrom0 It just generally costs all of their mana. Healing and Town Portal are usually all people learn. Warriors can just face tank every boss in the game with no trouble.

All Lightning spells multihit. So their damage being lower doesn't always mean they do less damage. Also for a magic break point you may want to figure out which magic level you need for Town Portal. That's usually the break point warriors want to stop putting points into magic. Their magic limit is 50. However, they also only get like 1 mana per point. So they are hard limited to support magic only. Infravision is another really good spell for warriors. It just lets you see enemies through walls.

It's Diablo, not to be confused with the Dia spell. 16:21 - 16:33 - The words "Absolute Repelling" are scratched on the front of the door. I could only imagine how horrible that room would actually smell.

Poisoned water supply? Did the crops burn as well? Was a plague set onto every house?

One of my favorite things about the original Diablo is that adding Light Radius is almost completely negative.

Optimally, when playing multiplayer, you want a set that has a total of -100% light so you can pick up your items with TK without triggering the monsters again.

Just an fyi, I *think* the fast travel spots are available to nonmultiplayer, they just require you to reach the other end first to open them

He is confirmed to be a Sean Connery impression. David Brevik said so in one of the countless interviews he did. He's also someone's son. I don't remember whose, but a lot of people on the dev team put friends and family into the game as characters.
