In this episode it's the end of the beginning as the galactic federation team Star Chechin, and their leader Star Chicken, start selling tacos out of a trashcan on a distant woodland planet

Also, there is a rumor that the stage 7.2 boss is the R-type Leo final boss (Major), but from the original timeline, where humanity created the Bydo. The final boss from Leo was a version of Major that existed in our timeline. It would make sense for it to go haywire since another version of himself from the future entered this timeline-a past and future self-existing simultaneously. Let's think for a second. R Type Leo involves an artificial mechanical planet named Eden, with Major as its core. How much of a stretch would it be for them to assume that humanity would have built Eden in the original timeline regardless of the Bydo invasion? When humanity needed to use the Bydo to fight the ''Other'' Civilization, the most practical thing for them to do was to use an EXISTING supercomputer to serve as the Bydo Core. In the original timeline, Eden was converted into the Bydo planet, as shown in stage 7.2. Major was always the true Bydo Core, and as for the version of him you destroyed from LEO, maybe he found out the truth about what he might become. Please let me know what you think Naka!!!! Thanks!!!!

    1. The R-type that no one with claustrophobia would want to pilot. The Jelly Enzymes would certainly feel like flying a jelly bean or a ship made of gelatin. 2. The R-type that is for magical girls. Magical heart wave cannon go! 17:20 I can imagine the catharsis in this moment Naka. 18:02 The rare Force connects to the R-Type noise, followed by being sucked into a... is it a positive or negative space wedgie? If it was the only way out I would fly into it, but if it was going to destroy me I would be reversing my way out of there without collecting the force. I probably shouldn't make a suggestion, but... if you have the ship then I want to see "Mr. Heli". That or one of the transforming mecha R-units. Concert Maker would be a good one to see too.

If you let the grabby thing take your Force, it leaves you vulnerable, but it also basically automatically murders the ball, while also giving you a rather large amount of Dose to your meter, as well as points.

Ah, to see Naka deal with the gatekeeper again, in the same manner. Giga Wave Canon, for those who are skilled enough at manipulating the force as a weapon to be able to charge it up. An answer to EVERYTHING.

I remember when I first got to stage 7.2 I saw the two Concertmasters, said "oh, look Concertmasters!" then immediately died to the very first Bydo shockwave losing all of my power-ups to that point. All while in my own Concertmaster mind you! A truly unforgettable moment for R-Type Final 2 for me.

Coming towards an important point! 0:00 - 0:04 - Like the Sexy Beam from Dragon Quest, but more powerful! 7:41 - 8:13 - I wonder if that's an intentional shout-out. 17:26 - 17:30 - That had to have felt great to do there.

I honestly love playthroughs like these where you can nerd out and just be passionate for a hot minute. Same way Ogre is always a joy in DQ, TMNT, and games like that.

And now my favourite route in terms of gameplay. Also the score attack option, since 7.2 is the best of the final stages to milk points with your extra lives (not that I am good enough to be safe doing that yet). 6.2, my favourite stage in the game, the music keeps me pumped, while the stage itself is just right in length. I use a No Chaser here, Low Speed Red melts all the tanky stuff with ease, while turning the speed up for the boss still lets you do good damage. Just stay in front of the core at speed 2 with the force behind you, hopefully on top of the core and the boss should die before it starts getting too nasty. The homing flames can be shot down with your gun, which helps a lot. The Homing Wave Cannon also does a nice job of dealing with the POW swarms for a bit more points. Picking up the crystals is also a decent amount of points, the general idea is to leave one of the colour you want so you can pick it up last. It's also a good Etherium farm. It is also the one stage I am starting to boost the difficulty on for single level runs. 7.2 is a fun challenge, still working on figuring out the part with the fighters coming out of the floor after the first thruster. Did not know about that spot, gonna have to try it out. That said, if you die between the first thrusters and the swarm of Bydo Systems, good luck that segment is brutal after a death between the sheer numbers, the forces blocking attacks and the eyeball missiles. I did this stage with the Ragnarok II, game gives you plenty of time to charge up a Giga Wave for the final boss. The point farming opportunity is the electric worms. The theory I have seen about the boss is that it is one of the Cores from Tactics, either one that they missed or one that came back for a round two. The score strat is to hide in a safespot inside of the membrane and let your force do the work.

05:00 I think recall you saying once, I believe it was in Final 1 or Delta, that the swarms of power up ships felt like the Bydo were mocking humanity in some way, like they were going 'Here have them! See what good it'll do you.' I think this stage very much exemplifies that.

"Sexy Dynamite" doesn't exactly sound military/war vehicle appropriate. I want the backstory on how it got by. 5:48 Knew it was coming and it was *still* funny.

(17:25) EAT IT!!! Just like in R-Type Final 1, launching the Bydo charge shot at a boss that previously gave you grief must've felt SOOO good. "Ah, that makes me smile! As much crap as you gave me!" (Video that happened in: "Let's Play R-Type Final [8] Revenge") I vote for Sweet Memories. Does that one still attack with an image of the Parthenon in this game?

Not yet! There's still Final 3 Evolved and the remakes of the Tactics games. Maybe someday we will get a Final 4 that wraps up the series as a whole or even a manga that details the true origins of the Bydo Empire with a storyline that covers the events leading up to the first Bydo invasion.

Were it an option I would have suggested using the Rwf-9a bk Arrowhead bk from R-Type Tactics but after looking around it doesn't look like its available as an option so I'm going to suggest the R-9uso799 April Fool's Prototype instead if thats cool

i really enjoyed your playthrough of the base game. if you do dlc and have trouble with x2.0 or x6.0 use either happy days / mr heli . these are really good for those bosses, otherwise.. gigawave! :P btw by rubbing the yellow lasers of dentalion/ echidna/ charon force pointblank into the 6.2 bosses weakspot will kill it in 1 or 2 seconds.

I'm gonna put a request for the one ship that shoots out dreams from its wave cannon. I forget the name, though I do know it was used during your Final run.

It's probably Sweet Memories that you're thinking of, which attacked with an image of the Parthenon, at least in R-Type Final 1.

8:46 Really? Where did you get that info from? I was always under the impression that there were multiple Bydo Cores, and each and every installment in the series has us fighting against a different Bydo Core each time. Destroying them only buys the Bydo enough time to get stronger and more powerful for their next invasion.
