DHAL PURI| recipe guyanese style

1 1/2 cup split peas
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground cumin/geera
1 tsp complete seasoning
4 cloves grated garlic
hot pepper as much or as little as you like
Chopped green onions
thyme leaves
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup oil & 1 tbsp shortening for oiling.

This has helped me so much.So easy.l swear dhal phuri roti is one of the hardest recipes in the world...it's like french pastry..but you make it so easy.Thank you again.l practice making a little every day...it's the technique.Thanks again ..l will master it thanks to you.l am 75 yrs old.
My husband is Guyanese and I’ve been making a lot of Guyanese recipes for a long time but I never tried this one before, because we had a Roit Shop nearby but unfortunately the owner passed away, so now I have to try to make it myself because my children love it and also my husband, and all of your recipes look so delicious sometimes I feel like I can smell it through the phone😋❤️ lol

I am impressed you got 8 good sized rotis out of 2 cups of flour, most of the time from 2 cups, you get 4 rotis. Kudos, I also really like the idea of making the balls of split pea to fit the size of the loyah. I will use this method next time, i think this will work faster if you are making a lot of rotis. THANK you! 🙂

This is interesting I love Dhall puri and tried to make so many times , the flavor is always good but always bursting or falling apart. I will definitely try your method. This is a wonderful demonstration. I have been practicing how to prepare the dough. My second try was much better than my first try. One person said that a tiny bit of yeast helps it along.

You can add yeast but it's not necessary the key is a soft dough .
Wow ,this looks like bholi in south India,where we use sweet stuffing like jaggery and coconut,,that tawa can be found in every household in south India ❤️❤️❤️amaze to see different sharing same taste
