I have the 18V XRP 6-1/2" Circular saw, between it and the reciprocating saw they really drain batteries. I've slowly been migrating to the 20V line of tools and bought adapters to use the 20V batteries on my 18V tools since all my 18V stuff still works. The 20V tools will outrun the 18V stuff, I have to charge batteries with my 18V tools during the day, the 20V stuff just keeps going. I had used the 1/4" Impact Driver for several projects around the house & vehicles and was surprised how long the battery lasted, and it was running on the 2Ah battery. Seems Dewalt is really opening up a lot of possiblities with these new 20V/Flexvolt tools. I'm not a pro by any means just a DIYer, and I've been looking at the flexvolt stuff to replace a few of those cumbersome corded tools as well. I got to use the regular 7-1/4" flexvolt circular saw and it does great, tons of power that the 6-1/2" and 7-1/4" 20V saws lack...they do fine but they don't have quite as much power as the flexvolt.

Hi Rob, I know this is a older video. DeWalt has added a rafter hook to this model. Also the RPM for this model is 5500. Now i hope DeWalt can make a brushless 20v 7 1/4 left side blade like skil sidewinder 7 1/4 (corded version). That will be cool. I use the dewalt 6 - 1/2 20v bushed version for smaller projects and it's great. DeWalt should make this model brushless, rafter hooked and led light already like other brands. Just wanted to share some input

i just bought one. While it's missing that crazy power of AC saws, these are finally good enough that you'll never dick around getting your AC saw set up ever again. I do miss an unbraked blade though...it's just more fun revving up a blade even if its way less safe

Why didn't they give a removable rafter hook option? kind of like the handle on a hammer drill. maybe even clip over or to the side of the trigger bar, or above the motor housing. If you are right handed, this is the right handed version. The model with the blade on the other side is actually a left hand model. They build this way so no material blows in your direction. You are supposed to be looking at the ruler guide on the saw and not the blade when cutting. The guides come from the factory in perfect alignment. If you have to look at the blade to follow your line when cutting, something is bent on the saw. My brother dropped his and broke a rivet. He used a screw to replace the busted rivet and that put his saw almost 1/8" out on the guide lines.

Monarch15w Yes bud, the extra capacity is often just enough to get cuts that the 6 1/2 won't. (Especially bevel). You'll never regret having the bigger saw. I personally have a 6.5 and a 7.25 Milwaukee fuel and I never reach for the 6.5 on framing jobs. (Plus the Milwaukee's have rafter hooks ;) )

I am kind of sensing a PollyAnna tool review especially of late. Everything is great, everything is wonderful. In a comparison something has to be better. This is what a potential buyer needs not a love affair with every tool as I know through experience that most tools leave a lot to be desired. Your older reviews seemed more real world and useful when considering a purchase. I might watch a couple of more to see if it changes but I think I will drop the subscription. I feel that these are reviews of free tools given to you to influence a glowing review. Good for you to collect tools bad for those of us that want real information on tools we haven't used. Take care. Doug

it's a good saw for studs and plywood . that's it tho. but once you put a 9ah flexvolt battery in it ,it's actually better than the 50v flexvolt circular saw. you get way more cuts but just not as powerful .ps.fuck makita

"...is prime example of this..."? Of what? You being cordless on the jobsite or this is a prime example of them being easier and save time on tasks or both? No wonder you have a job/career in a construction related field, you probably won't cut it on any other higher intellectual level

Boris Bagryanskiy "There's no doubt that today's cordless tools make our jobs easier and save time on task. (.....I'm almost all cordless on a Jobsite). The DeWalt XR is a prime example of this." I think he's pretty clear in his statement.

Boris Bagryanskiy and everyone probably hated you. Two years doesn't even make you a true journeyman. I'll guarantee that there's plenty of people in the trades who operate on a higher intellectual level than you're capable of under the stress and circumstances found on a jobsite. Bash construction all you want, at the end of the day everything you rely on in your daily life wouldn't exist without structures, roads, power plants, canals etc.

Sensing a lot of insecurity in some of these remarks, if you took what I said personally you don't belong in this world
