    I have the old brushed 6.5 blade left. I like it more than my Flexvolt saw. I had almost given up on it, and then I put an aggressive Diablo blade on it, and it's amazing and loves my bigger batteries. I use it more than the Flexvolt.

    Welcome back Brian! Glad you had a nice break! 😄👍 Awesome review! I’ve been wondering about this saw since you and I ‘talked’ about it awhile back? I’m glad you and Jeff Booth and Brian F received good copies. Unfortunately I did not, and did not keep mine. I never cut anything with it, but I liked the feel of it, and it ran well. I must have got a bad copy, as not only was my 90 off, the run out was atrocious, and the baseplate has a bad bow to it. I’m glad you are happy with it, and appreciate mentioning me. 😊 Thanks for the information on Metabo. Good news for sure! Stay safe and Healthy! 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸

    Yeah I'm gonna get me one of this saw!!! My old brushed DeWalt circular saw needs a replacement and I'm gonna want this new Brushless 6-1/2" Saw. I don't need a fancy flexvolt rear handled saw or the flexvolt XR saw since I already have a DeWalt cordless sliding miter saw I also have a corded Hitachi 12" sliding miter saw too for a much more heavier job application. What I need for this new DeWalt Brushless 6-1/2" saw is only for cutting 2x4's or 2x6's for framing otherwise! The Diablo Freud framing carbide circular saw blades really helps a lot and does the trick! And I don't think I'm gonna be needing the flexvolt battery either since I have a lot of DeWalt's genuine 20V max 8.0Ah batteries in reserve I got 4 of them and 6 5.0ah and 3 compact 4.0ah batteries too!

    I gotta say this DeWalt 61/2" : "Brushless" is the Best 61/2" on the Market. I owned 2 Milwaukee m18 Fuel 2730 61/2" saws and the blade on both saws was 3/16" off with the blade at full depth and it had NO Way to Adjust it , plus the DeWalt has a bit more power. I also had a Makita 18v Brushless 61/2" , it was nice and smooth , but the Magnesium Deck rattles like crazy and it drove me Nuts and it Does it on All of them , plus the cheap plastic ruler / cutting guide on the front was Extremely Flimsy , I can't see it lasting long on a Construction site , but this is just My opinion, but you can check these things out for yourself and see ....👍✌🖖

    Be careful Brian F, you’ll be giving Brian ideas for a new Comparo! 🤔😄 I like the Metabo, and a Vs video/ showdown between the DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita and Metabo would be killer! I hear you on the Makita, and that dang rattle! It would seem every Manufacturer has one or two little things they can’t seem to get right? The plastic ruler piece on the front bothers some, and I can see how it would, but the tape on the older brushed modems would loosen, and would start peeling up. No getting around the power and the smoothness of that XSH 03. I’m surprised and sorry to hear about the Fuel saws being off that much. That was one of the reasons I didn’t keep my copy of the DeWalt brushless. Take care!

    The Metabo HPT "Deep Cut" saw is a great tool (the review of it on this channel is very good), I use it all the time and can recommend it highly: lightweight, powerful, good sight line, and more. But since I also have a set of Dewalt tools, I'll have to check this new left-blade saw out at some point... gotta have options. 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the review.

    Thank you for how you took my suggestion up for review! I have had and used saw myself for 2 months. I sold my DCS575 to get this one instead. It is currently not for sale in Europe yet, so someone brought it over here for me. I like it in general, but think it could be better. These are my complaints about it; Bevel is poorly marked Cut-diamond is slightly inaccurate Plastic guard Rafter-hook does not hang on Norwegian 2" lumber (48mm) Does not cut through Norwegian 2" lumber on 45 degree bevel. Marking on the shoe in general is a bit low quality I would have paid 20 dollars extra if the build quality would have increased. What do you think about this? I think the DCS575 has a higher build quality and feel to it.

  • @WorkshopAddict

    @WorkshopAddict

    Hard for me to test on your lumber and I believe this was made for USA lumber so it would make sense why it is not across the pond. Bevel markings were on par to other dewalt saw IMHO. What does not have a plastic blade guard these days in battery tools? Rafter hook designed for USA 2x lumber. To me, this is one of the better saws on the market for our side of the pond. The Metabo HPT 6.5" might for your needs better.

    Ok. For me I am not a big fan of plastic guards because I've had it on a circular saw before. It broke when I cut through hardwood, and it got stuck inbetween the machine and the guard. If you look at most Dewalt saws they have metal. Pro brands tends to have metal, say Milwaukee, Makita etc. I struggled with cutting on 45 degree because it was difficult to understand the marker for degrees. I guess the point with the rafter hook is valid. If you want another suggestion there is one tool that I personally am thinking about getting. It's the DCH263 :)

    although this is a great saw, the small 12v and the big 7 1/4, both have a better blade guard design. The 6 1/2 gets caught in between thinner sheet goods a lot, if you don't set the cut depth correctly. still a great saw, but as a right handed person, i really dislike blade left saws even for trim, just akward to have the weight of the saw resting on the cut off, thats why i think in my opinion, the 12v is better for a trum saw, less rpm, less weight , means less saw dust in your face. truth of the matter is, blade left is a left handed saw and blade right is a right handed saw, thats the proper and safe way, always stay behind the blade. especially for crosscutting....but yeah,.. good saw tho for lefties , but beware of that blade guard, it doesnt habe that extra triangle coming towards the arbor to roll over thinner material. Try cutting a single sheet osb, without setting the cut depth, and you will see the material runs into the blade guard, without the blade guard even touching the material, really wish they didn't cheapen out on that part, the guard design on the 12v and 7 1/4 is much more thought out.

    Coming from the 7 1/4 XR the build quality of the 6 1/2 brushless model is disappointing. The shoe wasn’t adjusted correctly out the box, had to tune the stop to get a 90” cut. Worse yet the shoe itself its not completely flat. There is also a lot of lateral slop in the blade, probably from loose tolerances in the shaft assembly. Not a saw you want to use if square cuts are important. The plastic blade guard is also junk, don’t care how tough they claim it to be, rattles around and flexes when in use. It’s shame because the smaller size and handling is great. Paired with the powerstack battery it’s plenty powerful and very lightweight. Hopefully one day they will offer a better quality version comparable to the XR line.
