I have this exact model. I prefer the plastic guard vs metal for weight savings. Its only purpose is to guard/protect you and the blade. Helps protect your flesh and at the same time protects the blade teeth from coming into contact with abrasive surfaces. Theres not much force involved so plastic in my opinion is a good choice of material for this application. Great saw for the price.

Had one of these at my trade school. Is great for doing quick jobs when working at height or awkward position. A lot lighter and comfortable than our skill saw 77s but not as powerful. Definitely not a replacement for a 77, but a very useful tool you should have.

I just got this saw to replace my old 18 volt Dewalt. I always used 18 volt lithium batteries too. This saw is a huge upgrade from my old 18 volt, which I really liked. I’ve used that old 18 for years replacing siding, building handicap ramps, framing different little projects etc and the 20 volt is a huge improvement. I purposely bought the non brushed version because it actually cuts faster than the brushless saw. I’m sure I’ll end up buying dewalts latest new thing in a few years before wearing this new one out. Way more RPM than my old 18 and more than the first versions of this saw. And the price is decent on a bare tool. I’d definitely recommend it. The brushless version has that vacuum hook up which seems vary Harry Homeowner to me. And it felt heavier than this 20 volt B version.

The 7 1/4" 570 is brushless and DeWalt claims it only weighs 1/2 pound more, but when I held both in hand the 391 felt a lot lighter than that. Maybe it's better balanced? Anyway I went with this one because I prefer the left blade, easier handling, and the fact it's made in Mexico while the 570 is made in China. And I think the performance is actually pretty similar to the brushless 570 thanks to the smaller blade. Although I do wish it was brushless and had a light, I'm happy with it so far.

It does eat through batteries if you don't use a strong enough battery. The 20 volt 2 amp is great if you are cutting thin wood, but 2 by 4 s and above make sure you go above 4 amps or higher and have several batteries charged on the side.

@@benjaminromshak9904 the 391b is the newer model and the 393 is the older model. go to the home depot website look at the DCS391b(standalone saw) and the DCS393( This is in the 9 tool combo kit). The 391 has a better shoe. The shoe is made of magnesium with ridges. The 393 looks to have a cast aluminum shoe. Be cautious when buying TOOL KITS. Tool kits usually have the older models. Sometimes it's better to save money and buy the standalone tools. If you don't care if the tool kit carries the older models then go ahead and buy it.
