Tbh, I don't think he'll have a problem. He made the final 15 in his first year on the ballot I believe if I'm not mistaken. I've followed the HOF politics for years, Troy. Getting that far that fast is practically a guarantee for eventual induction. The voters aren't denying his impact or are being prejudiced against his position like some tools I know (who thank God don't have HOF ballots). Hester is the perfect benchmark to put in at that position because unless someone can match him, they don't deserve induction as a pure return man.

@@master_zar no doubt. And for the "Is Hester a HOFer?" Look at the state of the return game in the league now. They've basically legislated kickoff returns into extinction but punts? How many punt returns do you see go for TDs? Is there any returner that makes the coverage teams extremely nervous? For sure there's no guy that if a fan is ready to go to the bathroom you'll stop to see the result of the return. Now the state of kicking -punting & field goals- has improved dramatically over last 10/15 years, but there's no doubt Devin is a HOFer. If CrIbbs continues to return kicks his entire career, he will likely break every record in the category that there is. Cribbs already holds the record for touchdown returns with eight after just six seasons. His yards were already past 7,000 yards after just five seasons. Oh, and he also has two punt returns for touchdowns. Cribbs is already the best ever.

As great as he was, he also had great overall special teams teammates. They had some great blocks and convoys to the end zone on some returns. On almost every return though, he had unreal vision and cutbacks.

This was the year I started watching football - right at the first game of the season idk why. I still have my Devin Hester jersey. I remember how sure I was to be watching the Bears win a Super Bowl after he returned that kickoff. That disappointment was the start of a feeling I’d be getting really used to over the 19 years that have followed.

The best return game of his career was 314 yards returning against Detroit on 9-30-2007 in a 27-37 loss. He had 7 KR for 219 yards and 5 PR for 95 yards! 41 times Hester got 100+ yards combined returning in a single game! He had 21 games of at least 100 yards kick returning (3 games over 200 yards) and 5 games in which he had 100+ punt return yards in a single game!

So he is in the Hall of Fame now. From Wiki -- Devin Devorris Hester Sr. is an American former football wide receiver and return specialist who played in the National Football League. The only primary return specialist to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he is widely considered to be the greatest return specialist of all time. And the thing is he was SO good at this, he changed the nature of special teams and how the play and plan. Very few people cause a game to change. This is why it's unlikely anyone will ever beat his records, as the style of play changed just due to him. Remember the other teams that started bringing in RB's as return specialists (backups to the primary RB). Yes he changed the game, and few players can ever say that.
