Instead of the sad story from the manga, they choose the American super hero genre, making him fight a monster every week, his attacks where translate to English to sound awesome. The first Devilman anime is an American superhero inspiration.

原曲の日本語歌詞とはかなり違う訳なのに、しっかり初代アニメ版のテーマと世界観を語り上げている。本当に素晴らしいと思いますね。センスと教養、何よりも作品に対する敬愛とリスペクトが無ければ絶対出来ない事だと思います。

The songs lyrics are from the original Devilman from 1972, where Devilman was more of a superhero type of character. That's why the lyrics don't talk about how in the new anime he literally rips people to shreds

デビルマンをテレビで見ていたのは保育園の頃の子供でした。耳で聞いて歌詞は覚えていました。[デビルイヤーは地獄耳]と意味を知ると[地獄耳って、、]と、今は笑えますが、幼い頃は、素直に怖かった歌とアニメでした。でもなぜか見ていました。懐かしいです。英語ということもあるかも知れませんが、あなたの歌は、とても格好良く粋に聞こえました。日本の歌、しかも50年位前の歌をカバーして歌ってくれて、本当にありがとう。

素晴らしい！！ただこの一言に尽きる。

Davi Long If you like Devilman but the netflix version is a lil too rough, read some of the original manga. It's still rough, but less, and I find there are more wacky antics sprinkled in which help lessen some of the super crazy stuff. It's actually releasing in book form later this year!
