Nice to see you both xxx
We have lots of peat moss bogs in the northern part of the province of Saskatchewan , Canada!
Pleasure to join you on the canal walks again. So much more relaxing and refreshing than the big city. Great video, thankyou.

Fen Wood and Mammoth Tower seemed like nice places to walk and explore. In Los Angeles, CA, USA I remember visiting the La Brea Tarpits where the bones of trapped animals, including mammoths, were found. That's amazing that the peat used to be 10 meters deep 150 years ago plus how it contains carbon = to all of the forests combined! Enjoy your coffee and fish finger sandwiches! Jenny

What an idyllic vlog. Lovely scenery. Looking forward to hearing what you end up doing. Staying or leaving. Take care and thank you.
Beautiful area! That's Dan Brown territory, aka The Narrowboat Lad aka sortofinteresting channel.
Fantastic. The peat bog is out of this world. We make a big deal of having woolly mammoth 🦣 in Eastern Canada, but we don't have the bog as well. And I have no idea exactly where the mammoths were either. Helpful eh ? Beautiful marinas and moorings too. If uploading is boring, write code or a get virtual assistant
“Everyone has to have a dream..” I have been scolded for my dreams quite frequently recently. I’m trying to be practical and wise, but moments with you two are sweet medicine for the soul.

O boy have you brought back some fond memories with this one. On our holiday from hell that we thourerly enjoyed (Trevor to Grindley Brook and back) we had to spend a day in Whixall Marina to have our domestic alternator replaced. All the domestic battery's were dead when we woke up that morning (they were showing 8V), I guest the alternator had gone. It was a beautiful, sunny day, we had food in the café. The people running the café were lovely. We got to chat with some of the boaters living in the marina. It was a really pleasant day. As they say in the song Thanks for the memories.

Thank you for calling attention to the problem of depleting the peat bogs. You were gentle but clear. People act as though it's an unlimited resource in their buying habits.

Brilliant 🙂 Such a beautiful and fascinating landscape. Thanks for sharing your walksssss. Poor little voles. 🙂🐿🌈❤️
Like the dangeling poobag! In the peat area where we live, there are informative boards as well to make clear ,how important peat for our ecological system is. It s an area, where people can cycle or walk and watch birdlife from afar
That looks beautiful that spot you found, I wasn’t expecting the marina to look so full of boats that looks so it be a lovely spot to stay for the summer😊
London CAN be a scary place, and you have done the right thing, getting back to canal life!! Take care on those muddy footpaths. John
Hi Fran & Rich, such beautiful countryside, it's so good to slow down, just explore, appreciate and enjoy! The swan floating along was a lovely sight. Thank you for showing us Mammoth Tower...that was very interesting. So lovely to see you both, hope you enjoyed the coffee at the Marina Cafe. I'm in wonderful company with Fran with the sense of direction! 🧭 Please give Jesse & Archie a cuddle for me. Thank you for sharing, take really good care, stay well! Sending warm hugs! 🤗Lots of love Kathy x ❤🌺🌸

Nicely crafted vlog as ever, hope you’re feeling better Rich. Thanks for pricking the nation’s conscience on use of peat, shame the government have now pushed back a total ban until 2030

I love your "have a little think" your vlogs are so entertaining, good luck with your plans. see you next!
You have to be careful as far as moss growing on the north side of trees. While it is usually the case, it grows where is damp and not sunny which may not always be towards the north. Thanks for another enjoyable video. 😊
Fantastic walk, amazing info on peat, which I had know idea of its value to our planet, love young Archie and Jess being in the posts.
Hi to both of you. Yes Rich. Activists! People who do things(like reintroducing the mink) without any thoughts of the future and the knock on effects their actions cause. That really was in the middle of nowhere.

Very coincidentally, when I turned on KZread yesterday this vlog was on : Kirstin and Joerg, 2 Germans living in England. They were spending the weekend in Montgomery. It looked like a place I would love to visit and they showed it off so well. And then I watched your vlog right after. I think you would really enjoy watching this if (or not) you get there. And you’ll see a great place to stay if you visit, maybe with family or friends!

Great video thanks. Last July we hired a canal boat from Ellesmere and had a great week doing the Montgomery and up to Llangollen. Even had enough time to do the Preese Arm. Thanks again
What a great sanctuary for wildlife. While we have an abundance of mountainous areas s National parks, any ares like that have been developed for farming in our country . Looks like you pickeda good time of the yearto visit. Take care

One part of that amazing and precious 3% is a 20 minute drive south from where I live in Vancouver BC. Burns Bog is a very similar peat bog that is essentially the lungs of the Fraser Valley. If it wasn't there, the whole Lower Mainland and Puget Sound (in the USA) would be smoggy like Los Angeles at its worst. Thankfully, there is an active appreciation of wetlands in recent years, and even our local (somewhat famous) body of water, the optimistically named Trout Lake, is under a managed program of re-wilding. The resurgence of wildlife in both places is wonderful. Abut 160 years ago, the Royal Engineers did a lot of the surveying in British Columbia, and planned to build a canal through Burns Bog. Another project that nearly happened was a canal to connect Vancouver and New Westminster. I guess the Engineers missed their beloved canals!

What a wonderfully relaxing video. A beautiful part of the Country superbly portrayed by yourselves. - Something I must ask, how do you get the dogs clean before they go onto the boat? I’m so looking forward to your next videos and in the meantime will watch your older ones. Take care, keep well.

Thank you. The only way to survive dogs, boats and mud it to be relaxed. We have wooden floors which vacuum and wash and have a big pile of old towels on the back of the boat. If we can we find somewhere for the dogs to paddle or swim and if they are really muddy they get washed down first the they sleep in front of the fire to dry
Taking time to see and explore and learn ... I like this.
