Beautiful playing and tone! To my ears, the modern instruments do not produce this type of sonority. Bravo bravo!

    今の流行りなのかも知れませんが、アレキ103系のサウンドばかりでうんざりしていて、たまたま見つけて素敵な音色に心が癒されました。ありがとうございます。

Ganz wunderbarer Klang.

A beautiful sound, even better without the distraction of poor camera work. Subsequent listening without looking was much better! For the performance, many thanks.

Parts of this have a Konzertstück-esque kinda feel (Schumann)... maybe the rapid call and response trade-offs. Very cool.

I suspect he was well aware of Schumann's great work having known the composer and his wife since at least 1844.

The enduring bias against compensators is mysterious, particularly since they work so well in small ensembles, they were widespread in the early 20th century, and several British principals still use them as their primary horns. Ib Lanzky-Otto, as well as most of Sweden, used compensators for decades.

It's not a bias. Compensating horns were invented in the 1890's so their use in music written before then is, shall we say, a wee bit anachronistic?

AHA! Single Bb horns, one with a 5th valve to switch from transposing (E&A)- it looks like my old Knopf! Great horns.

Enjoying the performance very much, but the 4th horn gets a nice solo and the cameraman is clueless as to who he ought to be focusing on.

No, it's compensator Bb/F horns. In Germany, we usually play on the Bb side and we also have our double horns tuned that way.
