These quartets are some of the most beautiful horn quartets I've ever come across. So nice to hear them played by you guys!
These quartets are wonderful; I had never heard them before. They show how subtle and versatile the horn is as a small ensemble instrument. We are so used to hearing the horns as part of an orchestra or as a solo instrument, but not so much as just a small ensemble of only horns. This is the polar opposite of bells up, full-throttle Mahler. Clearly there is so much more to the horn. It would be great if you could tour as an ensemble overseas. Come to New York, play at the Wigmore Hall in London. Have an agent persuade BBC Radio 3 of the virtue of you playing one of their Monday lunchtime live broadcast concerts from Wigmore Hall. You deserve a much wider audience.
The 6 quartets by Tcherepnine are a real inspiration to me as an amature horn player. This version and the version done by the Austrian Horns are the very best. My favorite players in this group are Sara Willis playing 4th ( incredible with those low notes) and Stefan Dohr on first. The 5th piece in the lineup is sooo beautiful, but all 6 are wonderful.
Bravo! The best quartet ever written, performed by the best quartet in the world today. Can't beat that!
I’m so happy to hear my most favorite piece played by them.
Wonderful quartet, it seems to be listen some Christmas music.
So wonderful, brought tears to my eyes. Love this group!
These are my favorite Horn Quartets and it is so nice to hear them played by maybe the best collection of 4 horn players on this earth. Loved every minute!
These work wonderfully also for trombone quartet. Played them with the Basel Trombone Quartet.
Listened to your performance, always following Tscherepnine's score, a pleasure ❣
Love this (specially Sarah)
So beautiful!! Thank you!!

This performance had me hooked in the first 30 seconds. I wonder if Sarah has ever played with Evelyn Glennie? I would loooove to see what they would come up with together. Peace!!!

There's a solution to that problem. It's not so bad to start over again. I did and I'm glad. You will find that you sounds will be pleasing to you!!
Please: why is it impossible to find a CD of these quartets? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks :)
Schöne Stücke... Gibt es zu kaufen Noten davon?

Naja, da wo man sonst auch Noten her bekommt. Einfach kurz googlen. Es gibt sie auch bei IMSLP, damit ist aber vorsichtig umzugehen, da sie in der EU noch urheberrechtlich geschützt sind.

I can't help but worry about that horn on the dock. things fall off of docks all the time. Still, these guys do play pretty good.
Hmm, the first three notes of the 4th movement, sound like the first 3 notes of the “titanic fantasy”… different rhythm of course. Mr Horner, rest in peace, but did you swipe something, me thinks? 😉
I am guessing that this is Alexander Tscherepnine.

I don't want to be "that guy", as a graduated professional horn player myself: but first thing first. I really love your sound. I'm an all time fan of you guys individually, because your sound is inspiring. Sarah, your low horn sound is something I could never imagined to dream off. Yes it's a live concert: but the part is (2nd part), tempo wise was just something I'd disagree with. It was out of time, not that I'd put a metronome next to it, but it's a 12/8th measure and sometimes you blatantly skipped 3 eigths! It felt "wonky" and not in time, the 2nd part of the Tscerepnine is really beatiful, but it felt rushed because it wasn't in time. One of the conductors I had the joy of playing with stated: "Please 'PLAY' the breaks". I never forgot that, because they carry so much weight to how a piece feels.
