Deus II For Beginners: Sensitivity, Reactivity, Discrimination, and Silencer. Lesson 3

Check out the Lesson 3 designed for all you XP Deus II Beginners. I have the new XP DEUS II and I've been doing a lot testing with it but I wanted to create a few simple how-to videos to help folks who are new to the Deus II get up and running quickly without wasting a lot time 2nd guessing the settings etc. The Deus II works really well out of the box so why mess around too much with it? If you take the time and learn theses simple things I'm going to show you in the next few videos, you will enjoy using the Deus II as much as I have. Its turning out to be an amazing machine and I think folks like yourself are really going to like it. In Lesson 3, I'll go over the 3 most important settings that exist in the D2 (IMO) and how to find them in the menu system. Plus, I'll show you where to find Sensitivity and how to change it. These videos are very simple because I don't want you to over think what you are doing. The Deus II is a very powerful metal detector and if you jump into all the advanced settings you will become frustrated and probably end up hating the machine. Take is slow for the first couple of weeks.

    Wes, if you save them off in one of the extra slots the setting will be saved. But if you made changes to the default settings and just turn off the machine without saving (most of the settings) revert to the factory. There are a few like volume, sensitivity etc. that will remain depending on your last settings. I can't remember which ones the are off the top of my head.

    Yes that is what happens. You need to make changes and save them off into one of the 12 open slots as a custom program. Once you do, your settings will stay in memory. Also keep in mind if you do any of the software upgrades, your custom programs (in those 12 slots) will be erased when you get an update to the software so write them down.

    I am confused what the difference is between discrimination and silencer. I run zero FE and F2 on the Nox or it loses SMALL non ferrous in the square nails. I have 3 D nail boards and tests so I can figure stuff out fairly quickly. I know almost any setting will bang a large copper in nails with the Nox, but you gotta be very careful to pull say, half dimes and Trimes out of the nails. So you see where I'm going with this, and wondering if the D2 is gonna seperate better, as the Nox is good, but lacking in heavy iron seeking little silver which is a tough signal to begin with. I rather enjoy the testing , so thats not an issue if the D2 has the ability.

  • @MentalMetal

    @MentalMetal

    2 жыл бұрын

    Jay I think of the silencer like the FE bias on the Nox. Its basically your iron filter. At 0 you have the door wide to accept all iron into the Deus as you start to increase those numbers the door begins to shut out iron. I usually never go above 2 (for my conditions) you want to hear some it anyway and then you can adjust the iron volume accordingly. If you go too high those small silver coins signals will get choppy and you may overlook them. I personally think (after using the Nox for a couple of years) that the new Deus will out perform the Nox in separation. I've already pulled 4 coppers out of some really iron invested sites using Deus Fast. Its insane what this machine has the capability of doing. Its just takes some time to learn and trust what its telling you.

  • @jaystrongbow9435

    @jaystrongbow9435

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@MentalMetal Ok, so I can consider silencer FE, so in the square nails I'd have to go really low too, testing will work that out., So is discrimination simply a notching program? Also I assume there is an all metal mode, and it can be volume adjusted? One last question Scott, is there a depth meter, or is depth accomplished by modulated sound and your experience?

  • @MentalMetal

    @MentalMetal

    2 жыл бұрын

    Man Jay you are working me over :-) so discrimination is not notching they are 2 separate techniques that may or may not change the performance of the machine. Notching just blocks out target IDs and sound that you don't want to hear but does not impact the performance of the machine. You are just blocking the signal from reaching your head phones or speaker. Discrimination is when you are telling the machine (as an example) that you don't want to hear ground mineralization (in this case anything from 0 to -6.4 if I'm not mistaken) but you are also setting the 1st tone break depending on this setting which will be your iron tone. I know that sounds confusing but just remember notching just blocks signal to the head phones where as the Discrimination has everything to do with the coil and the more discrim you use will have an impact on the machine dynamics. I always try to not go above 10 on the Deus 1 or 2. Typically I think running it at 6.4 is a pretty good and safe number to start out at.

    @@MentalMetal Right on Scott, I went back to your lesson 3 after reading this and its falling into place. Thanks man !! The main reason I am so intrigued with the D2 is small silver like half dimes, half reales and trimes in iron. Large cents and KG's are almost impossible to miss with the Equinox even in moderately heavy iron. And why I've had good luck with small silver, I know there has to be more that is simply masked. Small silver is a tough target anyway ..... . BTW, I watched your D2 coin program again, and that is really a nice program.

    You can use both but keep in mind the more filters you use you will lose something. I try and use the minimum DISC possible and will turn up the Silencer if I need to bump out some that iron. The Silencer is your doorway to letting iron in or not. At 0 the door is open. As you increase the number the door begins to shut out/silence the iron. Obviously the more you use the more you shut out.
