Pair of Detroit 8V92's. Running at Dock just prior to removal. Port engine lost oil seal in left bank turbo and was dumping large amounts of oil into engine.

I have no words for how a boat with Detroits makes me feel when im on one, the vibration, the sound an smell is like nothing else.

Don't run no load at dock. Worse thing to do for these.Rings stick wet stacking . Take out under load alot. 40 years marine mechanic.

The sound of that gave me the willies. Diesels love full power, but under a proper load.

WOW!
I love the 2 stroke Detroit diesels but you NEVER rev a cold diesel like that especially when it's could!:(
Been on my uncles boat sea worker 22 coved diesel engine going at full pelt sweet as a nut she was 🙂💖🙂💖
Exactly what not to do to your boat engines I was just waiting for something to pop lol
Port looks like it's running as it should. I see no problem. But the starboard engine? No way that's a Detroit.

Starboard is on the right side of the boat.

@@texassportsoutdoors Oh, no shit? I thought steerboard was on the right. 🤔
I don't see much water/cooling coming out of the exhaust pipe.

Yep. The cold, thick oil is now all up in the valve covers.
At least it keep the bugs away.
What was that about 2100 rpm?

Sounded like it was a little more that that, lol.

My guess would be about 2350 that's the recommended top out for a 8v92 if memory serves.

TCMedia I agree. every boat with Detroit diesels that I ever worked on had 2350 rpm no load.
That poor Detroit sounds blown up
