We had a Ford L9000 with a 318 Detroit, dual stacks,, The guy that drove it would put a piece of chewed gum in his left ear so he wouldn't go deaf. LOL

James Beshears I'm not sure if you're a smart aleck or trying to be funny. In case you don't know, I'll educate you. There's no such thing as a Ford with a GM engine. Ford's have Ford engines and if it's a desiel, it's either a Cat, Cummings or Detroit desiel. So, really what you're saying is stupid so take this advice and think about what you're going to say when you comment. A word to the wise should be sufficient.

The most menacing these things sound is when there coming down hill at 85 mph with Jake's on high. You can here them miles away!

Nothing quite like a GM when you hear the crack you know it is tuned right. Drove a louisville with straight out pipes with a 692. Thats why i am partially deaf.

that is one bad ass rig i remember those damn good truck and engine

I love how all the old truck drivers are going off about keeping it between 1750 and 2150 rpm, rev matching downshifts, mastering clutchless use of a 10 speed Road Ranger etc. Meanwhile my mom's old motorhome rocked a 6V92 TA with a dumb-as-bricks mechanical 4-speed automatic. It managed fine.
