Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is a non-specific laboratory indicator of blood reflecting the ratio of plasma protein fractions; a change in ESR can serve as an indirect sign of the current inflammatory or other pathological process. Also, this indicator is known as the "Erythrocyte sedimentation reaction", ROE.
