This is the third and final of three videos that show you how to thoroughly clean your romsets. In this one we cover how to use AllDup to specifically look for duplicates easier as the software has a nice layout and great options. If you want to get a better idea what we are doing, watch the INTRO video, link is below as well as links to the other 2 videos.

Great tool. Found a better way with this program thou... you can , in your search options, select "Ignore text pattern" and the you can specify the regions separating them with slash like this "USA/Japan/Europe/World" (always make sure to match the capital letters). Then the app will ignore those words from the search.

Thanks!! Little tip. It will get pretty impractical to go over thousands groups manually and picking country you don't need. So you can do this: Once you have your search results ready click "Select" on top menu and then "select files by name" and type in "Europe" etc to select all roms with "Europe" in their names. You'll still have to do a quick spot check manually just to make sure that group didn't contain the only 2 Europe roms without any other regions. I only had one such instance in case of N64 roms. Then once that's done you can repeat the process for "Japan" etc.

yepp I already covered that in detail in the step 1 and/or step 2 videos and in step 2 video using country/region filter with romcenter. This video (step 3) is about getting rid of the dup's that DIDN'T get filtered out in the first two videos. :) Typing Europe and getting rid of all the Europe ones isn't a good idea because some roms only have the Europe version not a USA version, step 3 ensures that ONLY dup's show up, it will ignore Europe ones that have no USA version.

Will this scan multiple folders? Some games are on several platforms and I only want one copy of the game. Example: Zaxxon is C64 NES and many more. I wish to only have the best version and delete all others Thank You

How about for MAME 2010? Tons of duplicates for different regions, no specific folder names to reference.

I just go after merged sets, maybe look into the differences of merged and non merged and semi merged romsets and maybe one of those will be to your liking.

okay but DUDE, shouldn't there really be an option to automatically select the duplicates, leaving one unmarked? i've got thousands of these things, which is why i got the software in the first place, because i didn't wanna have to manually go through and do this. i don't understand this stuff so i might be missing something. anyway thank you for taking the time to make this video :)

There may be an option but I didn't see one. I think you can set up some sort of guidelines in the program not sure, but cleaning roms and being thorough , making sure you don't delete something you want to keep...etc... is a lengthy process, there really isn't anyway around it. A quicker way will mean lots of wanted stuff potentially getting deleted. Its the nature of the beast. do it once and you never have to do it again. Send the cleaned out set to the cloud so you ALWAYS have it and never have to go through all the trouble yet again.

Where is the part where you mention why you don't prefer 1G1R? It's so much faster for sorting / deleting regions so I am just curious.
