Thank you for this recommendation. It took several days, but I finally found and removed all the duplicates my external HDDs were hiding. FOREWARNING TO ANYONE READING:- You are deleting files, not cleaning folders! Do not get lazy or complacent using this program. Do some tests in your own time. Learn how the functions work on a test folder first. Be prepared to spend hours searching for and removing redundancy, especially if its been years you've allowed it to accumulate for. Don't assume anything about the program. Don't just go diving in and think your data's fine especially if you're scanning more than one device/drive. DOUBLE-CHECK everything you're doing. Always preview in explorer what the program thinks is a match, because there's always that random odd chance, that its not. You don't throw the baby out with the bath water do you? So please take your time... or you will lose your precious data/photos/images.

I really wish you would have shown an example where you search one drive i.e. the C: drive and remove all duplicate files. I downloaded this and was not pleased with how confusing it was to determine which files were the original and which ones were duplicates or the user interface for doing just about anything.

Wow this is gold ;) it will actually work in the network as well like for example in my Synology NAS where I tend to backup all my crap from loads of devices !

This absolutely wonderful and I have been looking for years ... there was one but got lost years ago in the builds of new ones. Unfortunately, my tech mixed desktop with docs and more ... files are in pieces and been unable to select them .. if I had a year!!?!? LOL Thank you so much and sending blessings Rick =)

I ran a search for duplicates on a 100GB plus folder for pictures - mostly correct results, but it also threw false results on a whole lot of pictures where analyzed duplicates were not the same as the original. So don't go about assuming that the software is perfect and deleting duplicates without checking each of them. Alldup is free, but still not perfect.

Always always set the match rate for 100%, and specific the file size must also match, you are far less likely to get false results via this method, but you're right, there's always that odd picture that looks similar enough to confuse into thinking they're duplicates when they're not.

If they have the same filename, same filesize and contents, then generally yes. If however you've been renaming them and editing them in Movie Maker or whatever program, then I'm afraid you've got your work cut out for you.

Can you make a video showing how to download AllDup to a Windows pc, I'm not computer savvy and don't know how to download this program.

I'm sorry to hear that, if you deleted them already ? check the Recycle Bin first to see if they are there.. if not you will have to get some file recovery software (install it on a usb drive on another computer to prevent writing to the drive that has your files) and try to restore using that

Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization. Select Folder Options, then select the View tab. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK
