"LE GRILLE? WHAT THE HELL IS LE GRILLE!?"
objectively the funniest blender tutorial i have done. Going to check out more of your videos thanks! I actually released my keyframe inside my cube or about a quarter of the way in. I also made my cube smaller. It gave a nice realistic look like once it got to far in it lost all its momentum and then kind of stumbles the rest of the way through as it falls apart.
DUDE! That calculate mass option is awesome.
@SurfacedStudio
3 жыл бұрын
:D Without that option it'd be a nightmare!
For those following along with this tutorial; if your cube keeps exploding after you've enabled, "start deactivated," make sure you check that the original cube that you hide does not have a rigid body effect. I don't know when I added rigid body to it but it took me about 30 minutes to figure out that my cube was exploding and wouldn't start deactivated because of that problem. Hope this helps!

@@SurfacedStudio I am having same problem-but my original cube did NOT have any rigid body attached. I’m in 2.92. It seems the Start Deactivated isn’t having any effect. I’ve read multiple threads- tried changing the Collision shape type, deleting Scene: Rigid Body cache. My different attempts yield different results, from the cube collapsing in place to exploding, so the various factors do have an effect, and the simulation is responsive, I just can’t get it to start deactivated... Great tutorials btw- thanks!

@@brightgarinson3099, I just saw it done in Nuke, with a Houdini example (with the edges broken too, not just flat like legos like here, remembering this is an introductory tut), so it can be done in Resolve/Fusion or Ae. I'm pretty sure he literally penned in a mask (e.g., in Ae) and done...if you don't care about color correction, matching or grading. Look at some compositing Ae tuts or Blackmagic Resolve tuts (they have a free version, and Resolve kicks Ae/Pr's butts, imo). I looked at Nuke, because it's the one professionals in the industry use most often, so I'm gonna still use Resolve. I'm a rebel without a clue.

This tutorial was absolutely amazing! I am currently taking a Physics course, so I actually understand the mathematical side/principles of this animation. I will definitely see about trying this out sometime soon. It was completely awesome! One thing I learned (I feel so stupid) was that I can slide keyframes on the timeline manually. For some reason I didn't know that! Lol
Wonderful tutorial! I just have one small question (unless the answer is too complex). My final render of this quick scenes displays the cracks before it has been smashed or touched at all (frame 1). Is there a way to apply these cell fractures without allowing them to be visible before the destruction?
