    This driver tool is extremely useful, I should use this often. Thank you so much for this, destructing stuff in Blender has been quite complicated and I'm glad there's a workaround that you decided to share

    Thank you for your comment Alan :) Yeah, I really like drivers in Blender - I wanna dig a bit deeper into the scripting. I'm obsessed with Expressions in AE and I wish I was better at using the scripts in Blender to do some more advanced stuff haha!

    Thanks for this, your tutorials are great. This was my follow up question after watching the previous video. I was just going to move the cube off-screen in the frame of impact, but this taught me something new!

    Fantastic. I tried fractures before, but was frustrated when I called see the fractures before the fracture. This tutorial is easy to understand and the results are brilliant. Drivers seem easy to understand and makes this task so much easier. Thanks for making this and the last fracture tutorial easy to follow and understand.

    Hi did you do a follow up on the upgrades you did to your aero laptop, I've just got the same one and would like to know if the upgrade worked out well. Was it straight forward to move os to the new ssd, many thanks shawn uk

    Good tutorial but there is an easier way to reveal the fragments by creating an "Instance" of that collection which will then allow you to simply key frame the visibility of the "instance" in both view port and render...remember to hide the original collection thru out this process🙂

    Hello! I wanna know how to do a realistic head explosion using soft bodies, motion tracking, and liquid simulations. Is it possible doing a tutorial on such would interest you?

    I was hoping to find a way to hid multiple objects in an easier way. Sadly linking the animation data does not work if the objects are baked. because it includes all of the translation and rotation data. For now I end up having to manually key the visibility and render property of every piece manually 🤕

    I know a bit of drivers but what i do is render in parts, it also helps because i don't have a decent PC. So I'm actively changing settings by rendering one part with one settings and the next with required changes

    There's lots of ways to work around the limitations in Blender - as long as it works for you that's all that matters :)

    Just a hint, you could hide the pieces and render the sphere, the original cube as a video until collision point, then you wouldn't have to worry about masking and you still get the shadows and correct lightning. Anyways, loved your tutorial as always 👍👍

    There's lots of different ways to work around the pre-fractured look :) For best results it's best done directly in Blender - but if you've already rendered it and it took you 80 hours to render, you may be looking for a simpler workaround. As long as it works for you that's all that matters :)

    Just a suggestion that u can just hide the entire collection and key frame it but I guess it cannot be keyframed in the viewport and only for the render

    New to blender -Coming from Cinema 4D i wander why blender cant do the same as the voronoi fracture in Cinema 4D where you don't see the cracks until the collision..?

    All depends on how it's implemented - C4D (and Houdini and others) have more precise fracture and collision systems

    I may be missing something. I am using Blender 2.91. At 6:25 when I right click on Viewports, I do not see "Paste Driver" as an option. I see "Add Driver," "Open Drivers Editor" and other options, but not "Paste Driver." Is it somewhere else in 2.91 or have I missed a step?

    Seems to work in 2.91 for me as well. Have you copied the property as a New Driver? If you missed that step there won't be an option to Paste Driver coming up

    Yes you can, but it’s not as easy or as flexible as using an actual video compositing program (doesn’t have to be AE)

    Yeah, another limitation with Blender. It's just not as accurate as some other tools - but it works for the most part :D

    Can you make a tutorial on how to break only a certain part of an object in blender Please? For example, you sometimes see that when a really strong person hit a wall, only the hit part cracks and breaks. Some thing like that.

    You can break up your wall manually first and extract the part you want to break. Then use Cell fracture only on that part so only part of that wall breaks :)

    I don't think that's a trivial problem to solve. Some tools do this really well, like Houdini, but Blender still has a long way to go in terms of physics and destruction

    Here's my attempt at applying both tutorials, apart from making the sphere bounce off. No matter how light or heavy I made the sphere, the parts seem to fly the same path. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k2qsj6OEXbbJXZM.html

    Have you baked your physics simulation? If so, be sure you delete and re-bake anytime you change your simulation settings otherwise nothing will change

    @@SurfacedStudio No, I didn't bake it. At least I don't believe I did. I am now revisiting your two tutorials on this and having the ball react to physics a bit more after hitting. I'll post a link when it is done. Thanks for the tutorials.

    I would highly recommend NOT getting a laptop unless you cannot live without portability. Laptops are extremely expensive compared to desktops in terms of value for money. To be able to run Blender, your computer has to meet these requirements: www.blender.org/download/requirements/
