UNDER THE COVID RELIEF ACT THOSE WHO HAD NO QUALIFIED HISTORY WERE SUPPOSED TO STILL BE ELIGIBLE. MY SON'S APPLICATION WAS IGNORED ENTIRELY. HE NEVER HEARD BACK. Florida pocketed BILLIONS of Covid Relief Unemployment that was supposed to go to people who had no work history (because they were unable to look for a job due to Covid) and to those who had no recent qualified history (for the same reason). They simply REFUSED to change their rules and pocketed the extra they were given for the special rules. This is a FACT!

Period. Factually true statement. Now, let's step out of your hypothetical and back into the real world, where, all too often, Jack is never even actually given the validation task. I am not a news hater. In fact, CNN, the supposed poster boy of fake news, I would argue is factually true the VAST majority of the time, because for a year I fact checked damn near everything they said(I was trying to figure out why they were at odds with Donald Trump all the time).... turns out they were right, time and again. Turns out Donald Trump would get up on there on the podium and say anything he WANTED to be real, WAS real, and lie to the American people, like every damn day. But that's a different story. End of the day, its EASY and good for ratings to just gather numbers, vet them not, and throw them in the face of a politician at a presser then splash the response all over your news blurbs for the day. The UI system in FL was pretty bad in the beginning (Rick Scott's fault), was improved dramatically; then at the end of pandemic benefits was pretty lousy suddenly. Employers contesting Federal benefits should not be allowed, someone quitting in his example (I don't know if that's the case) is only relevant if the office closed or if they were asked to do something that would be unsafe during the pandemic. Ending the benefits abruptly was a mistake, it cost Floridians $2 billion+ of Federal money and did not have an effect on hiring. You can't allow employers to make a medical decision for their employees and put the employers in charge of statewide decisions (he cut the Federal benefit and did so because crappy jobs had trouble hiring, not careers but "McJobs.")

I had an employee who quit at the end of 2019 after 15 years with the company so he could enjoy an early semi-retirement. He filed for unemployment in Feb 2020. We contested. When I called him and asked what happened,he told me he thought it would be easy money and didn't think it affected anyone. It does. Employer rates change based on how often UI is used. I offered him his old job back, with a raise (he was very well paid when he quit). He said no thanks, then filed another claim. We contested again, and he called to apologize. He said he could use the cash. I offered him the job, again. He said no, again. It would disrupt his lifestyle and cause him to move back to his old city. Fast forward three months and I found him a job with someone else near his new home. I like him, but I don't understand why everyone in America thinks everyone owes them everything, and rules don't matter.

The Governor forgot one thing, he didn't take the mic and drop it. The media is a joke.

If I go to lets say...Argentina (or any country really).. and declare myself an "immigrant" without going through the Argentinian authorities, can I expect and demand benefits from Argentina? What I can expect is to be ignored if I'm not a nuisance, but if I make my case through local news outlets I could likely expect to have my visitors visa revoked, expelled from the country and be banned from returning. Thats how sovereign countries work...otherwise they arent a country at all, just a large chaotic commune.

The reporter asked a legitimate question. DeSantis is a bullshitter. In this video, he defended Florida's unemployment compensation system as "97 percent" perfect. But on May 1, 2020, he admitted the system is "very broken" and "in tatters." So the reporter was correct to ask him about it~! @@ctina2572 That wasn't due to a denial of unemployment benefits though, it was due to the states sending all their employees home in a panic over covid with no plan then trying to figure out how to keep things running. It took many of them over six months to get their shit straight, and many states took even longer than that. There are plenty of people in a lot of states who used a year's worth of turmoil and confusion at the state level to get benefits they had no right to collect, the states are going after them now big time for fraud.

Exactly, and allow me to add, I actually quit before my two weeks was given at a previous job and i still got extra unemployment from that employer. There is no excuse to not have gotten unemployment if it were legit.

Wish people knew how many people I personally know who got unemployment and chose not to go back to work after the pandemic. It’s disgusting. 2 of which I offered a job also when I found A new one bc we were closed for over a month… they declined
