Ben- If ever you are faced with this situation again, try to remove the screw. Good quality shears and Scissors are all meant to come apart easily. You can’t go wrong with red handles! 😃👍

Good to see these given a second life. I was expecting you may need heat to get the scissors to open, but the various fluids and cleaning did the trick. Scoutcrafter would like the red, but would have had to remove the pitting. The pitting looks too deep so not much left if removed. Well done. Dave.

Welcome back!! You have been missed! The shears will make excellent shop scissors for rags or sand paper type work. I have a pair that I cleaned up and painted orange so I could find them easier. Glad you are back!

Hey, no pressure Ben, it's always a pleasure to see one of your videos, but it's got to be right for you too, hope you're doing well ! That was quite a tough project to come back on, the irony of course is that the quality of the steel in those Wiss shears is partly why they're so badly rusted ! Anyway they came out great in the end and most importantly work well, I'm sure you could have gone harder on the pits etc, but it's as well to take a step back and consider before going in hard, ScoutCrafter has done a number of these and always warns about messing with the hollow grind ! Great to see you back, you've been missed !

@Ben Mall, Great video. Glad you're uploading content again. Now, you've inspired me to create more content for my channel. It's been over a year...maybe 2! If I may, here's a couple of shop ideas: Add 1 qt. of distilled water to 1 gal. of muriatic acid to take the place of the evapo-rust. No odor or off-gassing that will rust ferrous metals. Your soak-time would be approx. 1 hr. instead of overnight. If you don't want to store and reuse it, just set it outdoors and let it evaporate. WD-40 summarily sucks as a lubricant. The "WD" stands for "Water Displacement" and it is a mediocre (at best), lubricant. And, to take the place of WD-40, here's one of my favorite secrets: To 500ml of Acetone, add 125ml of ATF. Best penetrating oil ever, and inexpensive to make. Store in an HDPE or glass trigger spray bottle. It'll keep indefinitely. keep up the good work! Bill

Thanks Bill. Yes, I've used Muriatic Acid before. I've also used Citric Acid. Evaporust just feels a bit safer. I normally use PB Blaster as a lubricant but the WD40 is great when you need something very thin to clean a connection point. Scoutcrafter frequently recommends 50/50 which is his mixture of the Acetone and ATF. I haven't tried it yet.

@@mrbenmall It happens. Shorts have been a saving grace for me. I can use my phone and catch a 15 second clip of something, post in it another minute and on to something else. I also have half a hundred projects waiting to be done so I just start the camera and go. Not as polished of a presentation for sure. Editing eats up your day. I edit while Lydia is telling me all about her day and plans for the next. Do what you feel best doing. It's just nice to see how good your projects work out. .

Wow, Ben, you are a miracle worker they turned out great for what you had to work with! Lately, I have been finding good scissors for a dollar or two. I have always draw filed the edge Just for kicks I tried a carbide speedy sharpener honing in both directions I resized a good burr fast. Worked really good just take light passes.
