Derry Cairngorm | Hiking to the Heart of the Cairngorms National Park

Derry Cairngorm | A couple of old folk with knee niggles take on a hike into the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. A rather fine outing , fueled by a rather fine treat!!

    The banter is gold you two! Nearly spat out my cup of tea over my keyboard and screen with laughter when you both 'tested' your bicycle bells. Wasn't expecting that! Such as masculine thing to do. lol. Currently one month into three on the bike exercising the (inexhaustible seven month old) Springer Spaniel, with no winter tramps for me this year. Gutted and currently suffering 'horizontigo'. But the quad strength I will build up will hopefully mean I can avoid surgery on my left knee. Hope Summer has really take hold there now. Enjoy Murray!!

    Hello Murray, great to see this one as it's now in my area and I can add it to the list. I stopped watching for a while so I missed the whole knee drama - hope you're still recovering well, and I'll get all the details when I catch up on the videos I'm sure. I moved from Southampton to Aberdeenshire in November but for a long time I had slight worries about my heart - but the cardio gave me an "all clear" a few weeks back so the first thing I did was take a trip to Bennachie and walk up Mither Tap. A nice easy one to start with as I'm not very fit at the moment, but it felt wonderful to be out on the hills at last! Maybe I'll see you on a mountain some time, although I'm unlikely to have any jelly babies to share, sorry :)

  • @ScotlandsMountains

    @ScotlandsMountains

    If the makers of jelly babies are watching - I can always mention them again ;)lol In terms of comparisons - its hard to compare as the Cairngorms are so unique and different to any other area. In years gone by I was drawn to the rugged jagged peaks of the west but the Cairngorm mountains have a different majesty about them. The scale is different and the landscapes and mountains within them are completely different too.
