What the heck were you watching? Blessing in disguise that we missed the playoffs? Are you freaking kidding me? There’s no way we should’ve missed the playoffs. it wasn’t just that they lost seven straight, it’s how they lost them. Absolutely no fight or determination from the team. Getting smoked twice by Arizona? No defense at all? Lalonde sucks.

LaLonde is a BS artist. The D zone coverage was horrible, never fixing being out of position and poor gaps on D. He didn’t play Lyon until almost Thanksgiving when he had to. He mishandled Kostin and Holl. Why? Newsy is not the answer.

@@richierich398 the way this rebuild has been working has been drafting and developing from within, yzerman going out and making a bunch of signings was to give prospects more time to develop… Guys like copp, compher, chariot…these guys were signed do boost depth and hopefully flip for future draft picks once yzermans personal picks are ready to enter the lineup, these guys are not apart of the bigger picture….we have ALOT of young talent and if you ever thought the team you saw this year was the yzerplan you are getting too far ahead of yourself and by my observation a lot of dummy’s think we should somehow be making the playoffs when we have been screwed at every draft lottery? Like it’s written in the stars that this is going to be a long one. We will probably make the playoffs next season (and we’ll probably get eliminated quick),but if we would have made it this season we would have been destroyed by the rangers Larkin probably would have gotten more hurt than he already is and the morale that was built this season would have been shattered in 7 games or less.

Just to think we could have had Quinn Hughes over Zadina, Jason Robertson over gustav lindstrom, and Brayden point over someone else is mind boggling, the guys we picked were right BEFORE those guys were taken, if ken holland wasn’t a fucking idiot we’d have playoffs to talk about, we’d have seider-Hughes, Hronek- edvinsson, Johannson and a veteran we would be stacked on the blue line but nah holland likes tiny guys that have one good season in junior hockey and think it’ll translate

I have to say, They’re moving the puck better than they have in years. STILL Way too many defensive lapses. All of those games where they were way up early, and then gave the game back to their opponent. Get just one of those games back…and they’re in the playoffs. That’s the difference between this current team, and the team 15 years ago. Those teams had stifling, shutdown defenses.

One thing I noted: Steve Yzerman says the coaching staff has to groom the players more toward team defense next year. LaLonde says Yzerman has to provide him with players that have defense first DNA. There is obviously a mismatch between management and coach about who is responsible for team defense. My guess is that Yzerman will win the argument in one year. See ya later LaLonde...

He's happy with the overall organization especially whats happening in GR. He was dissapointed to not make the playoffs but said the season was progress overall. When it was insinuated to him that the head coaching was an issue he said not for him it wasn't so he's pleased with Lalonde. Spoke about some of the prospects, I got the sense many of them wont be ready for next year but a couple of them might be (just my personal take).
