    Senecas philosophy has very strong Catholic sentiment, though he lived before Christ. Some people knock Catholicism for “adopting” pagan stuff, but If truth is truth then it all belongs to the same line of thought. A great classic Catholic book that pulls heavily from Seneca is The Sinners Guide. Check it out.

    I defeated depression/degenerate behavior by looking inward and asking what my problem was instead of trying to suppress the pain with drugs/women and other vices. It was a hard fought battle but I won, and am living my purpose. Go to war with your insufficiencies and never look back, grind it out everyday and do what God put you here to do. Everything else is noise.

    @jay jay try volunteer work. and then don't tell any of your close social group. dont do it to garner any pride, or compliments or the xmas cards the organization will give you. do it for the task in front of you, for others. I volunteer at my local counties native plant nursery, and to do a selfless task for others pulls you out of self focused nature, as described by Elliot above. And even Jordan Peterson said that there is no shame in trying anti-depressants, if you need them biochemically , theyl help you a lot.

    I've never had depression, but did have savage anxiety. I did a lot of things to try and alleviate it but the thing that helped me most was an old-school no-holes-barred Christian dude who told me I was excessively self-centred and that was what made me so nervy. I was butthurt for a week or so but then realised he was totally right and was willing to tell me what a load of 'specialists' were not. That opened up a major door of recovery and spiritual growth for me. I never got to say thank you to the guy but even if I did I don't think he'd be into all the sentimentality.

  • @Rubbersoulful

    I used to have anxiety too. I would make myself anxious when around other people by asking mysefl the question 'what are other people thinking of me'? Of course, this question is very prideful as it presupposes that other people are thinking about you at all.

    @Rubbersoulful

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@kylemyers971 It's difficult to say exactly. Practicing shifting your attention outwards helps, and focusing on the other person instead of yourself. Instead of asking yourself how you could feel less anxious, ask yourself how you could make the other person feel more comfortable. The more you focus on the people around you, the more you'll see that they're just as anxious as you, and concerned with themselves, not you. I practiced a lot of meditation, too, and that was helpful in getting me outside of my head. But perhaps it was just getting older that got rid of my anxiety. The older you get, the more you realize that other people aren't paying that much attention to you, and you aren't the centre of the universe. It's a liberating realization. Also, I found that shyness and social anxiety can only really survive in moderate, comfortable circumstances. We don't worry about what others think of us when we are going through difficult, challenging times, fighting for our survival. Thus having a important mission, goal or taking on a difficult challenge can quickly dissolve our lesser worries about how others percieve us.

    This is the dumbest take on depression I've ever heard, but leave it to Christians/ members of any religion to act stuck up because they're "saved by God's love" and then lovingly project their short-comings as human beings onto people who are already struggling with feeling like they're not enough or marginalized in some way. I don't think your church or mosque or whatever you pray to false gods in is really gonna last long if you tell traumatized or sick people that they're just selfish and suffering for their selfishness. Then again, I could be wrong; Christianity is a death-cult based on being ruled over by a God that hates us for going against his wishes when he gave us free will and then being passive-aggressive until he killed his own son who was a child of rape. Don't give me that "mary said ok to getting god-blasted" b.s., cause women don't even give a second date to horny dudes that try that shit on the first date and they can SEE those dudes. You can't convince me that some woman got the lord's holy gravy in her and just accepted that.

    I needed to see/hear this. I started being against the system , the hierarchy because I witnessed violence towards women at a very young age. It made me feel powerless in protecting women, and my life became about me empowering women challenging women to not depend on man, or on me. And then it became overwhelming and this turned me into beta. I understand now the hierarchy is natural and it's not a bad thing to protect women. It doesn't mean that they are less, or can't fend for themselves, but it's only natural that we as men still offer this form of protection and service.

    Dear Elliot, You are great at continuing on a straight line in your conversations, however your best videos happen to be when you zig and zag about grabbing allegory, parables, and scripture! You still get the same point across yet you take a more visceral scenic route and illustrate very well for us the the measure of how our planes of existence can be scaled by the absolute polarity of God the father and Satan. The writings and language of the Old Testament itself is so alien to the modern man and this causes him to forget himself and his orientations within his own existence. Thus, in your making of truth and wisdom relatable, scalable, and exciting you have found a method to break down socially constructed psychological and emotional barriers designed to prevent and deter us from atonement with religion and alignment with righteousness. Your words cleave great might against the encroaching hoards of degeneracy and they remind us that not a hundred beta males or sissies could compete with the strength and glory of a man who picks up his cross, worships the lord, and transforms himself into the strongest version of himself, thus becoming an Alpha. Thanks Elliot. -C

    This is what the mushroom spirit told me during my first psychedelic experience. I was depressed because I my ego valued myself based on my own achievements, when my soul valued my self based on what I had done and what I was doing for others. Instead of chasing money, women, and other hedonistic ventures I decided to put all my energy into being a better son, brother, friend, and lover. The fulfillment that has come from this pursuit is hard for me to even put into words. It was also in this pursuit of being a loving human being that I finally began to understand the messages of Christ.

    The real assumption of authority is that it is like a good father that knows and wants what's best for his children. The history of the human race is that all authorities are made of people who like some better than others, and many authorities have only their own self interest. The only people they care about are those that serve their own interests. While there are wounded rebels without a cause, there are also people who realize that they are being screwed and are serving an authority that doesn't care about them. We are in the present mess because first our authorities abused their power and used people who saw very little benefit or were crushed. But then once our authorities figured this out they got soft and felt guilty. They didn't realize the level of rage that existed in these groups, and once given a little power those individuals pressed their advantage with tactics designed to infiltrate and destroy. They crafted a society that is not designed to work for the previous beneficiaries. That's what we as men have to deal with. It is not selfish to want what's best for yourself. Maybe you don't know what's best for yourself, but in many cases neither do the authorities, assuming they care. Sheep get slaughtered all the time. To be honest even Jehovah wiped out most of the human race before, and will probably do it again. Most of you who think you are righteous have already violated critical rules whether you know it or not. What happens will not be fair in this scenario. You will probably not be saved just because you feel that way. You might get on the right path through grace, but you have no idea what the criteria will be. Most of you don't even live up to New Testament standards much less the rules of the Tanac or the Catholic church, which changes it's mind regularly.

    Hierarchy one could argue keeps powerful knowledge out of the hands of the weak OR keeps people weak by hiding powerful knowledge. Hierarchy is a control mechanism that seems incompatible with the cooperative nature of our minds as it compartmentalizes, limits men from seeing the control structures. We are adaptable first and foremost, our nature is that we can change. This is used to trick us into accepting hierarchy as our nature rather than “nurture” one could say. We make order out of chaos yes! True. But that order can take many forms. That’s my take on it, seeing as hierarchy has led the average man to be irresponsible in his mediocrity.

    Catholics shouldn't listen to metal. I know it sounds harsh, but you have to deny yourself if you really want to become a catholic (=true christian). Metal is disruptive and ultimately satanic; it is not "therapeutic" as some people say, but really destroys the harmony between your soul and the Heavens. Try to listen to Classical and Gregorian to start detoxing. As long as you keep progressing in your Faith, you'll find out that your desire for metal music will banish, as incredible as may sound to you now. Don't be afraid to grow and let your old self d1e.

I never say anything about being a Christian, Catholic Baptist etc. You know what I call myself? A child of God and my following isn't a Pastor. It's the Bible and only that. When you make it to Heaven Jesus isn't going to care what you are. Who are you, what have you done, have you defended him when society forces you to follow the crowd. Have you broke through the secular atmosphere or not. Is your faith strong enough to handle whatever comes your way. That is what he wants. Never label yourself.

More and more people are becoming agnostic due to the inevitable evolvement of science/secularism and human rationality. Lol does me being rational and accepting the realities of this universe make me feminine???? It's possible to have faith in God and also be educated in science, while acknowledging the bad parts of organised religion. Tons of people are like this, it's not one or the other. You can also sit there and talk about examples when the church actually did the right thing has has been a good moral source of guidance in times of war, and stood up the disadvantage. Every combination exists in history.

    @@bernieorbust6104 You are absolutely right. You can worship a deity and be educated in science, in unison. As far as organized religion, (specifically the Vatican+Pope) they have perverted God's name because of their use of humanistic ideals and humanistic politics in combination with God Name. Doing this can bring about massive bloodshed. And that's what happened in history. Some historians argue they're responsible for 128 million deaths throughout history. It seems the evils outweigh the goods they did In their case. Here's a fun fact for you that you will love: After the 1933 German election, Hitler’s Nazi coalition held a narrow 52% majority, but he needed 67% (2/3 majority) to change the German Constutition to add the Enabling Act (which basically made killing Jews legal). All other German parties (about 10 of them) refused except one, the Zentrum (aka Center) party. EVERY Zentrum party member was a Catholic priest. Their leader was Ludwig Kaas who was Pacelli’s good mate that helped him write the Reich Concordat three months earlier. The Zentrum party held 15% of the seats in parliament. Nazi 52 + Zentrum 15 = 67% and the Enabling Act was passed. So without the Vatican & Pope Pius there would be no holocaust to chat about. And just to rub it in a bit; the Pope who replaced Pius xii in 1959, Joe Ratzinger grew up in the Nazi Youth. And this was not even a hundred years ago!!!! This was recent!!!! THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH HAD THEIR HANDS ON THE HOLOCAUST!!!!
