Hello med circle. I am a guy with npd and I have very mixed traits. I am trying to under why I think the way I do (that’s the narcissism speaking) and I would like to know if you have any advice/opinions. I kind of flip flop between a “covert cerebral” narcissist and an “overt somatic” narcissist fyi. Thank you very much 👍👍

@@Caretakxr Though MedCircle is very compassionate and helpful for those dealing with loved ones who have this disorder. Others on KZread are much more compassionate toward those suffering from the disorder. I like MedCircle for a lot of topics just not this one because I don't think they offer any help for those with the disorder. Psychology in Seattle is better for those suffering from this disorder. He did a 10 hour deep dive on his Patreon about it. There are free videos on KZread though on the topic too by him. I think MedCircle has chosen one type of approach to the topic and it doesn't include much compassion for those suffering from it.

I have zero empathy with someone who chooses to handle that emptiness in monstrously harmful ways to others. Zero. Compassion is reserved for people who don't use tactics of manipulation or exploitation of others for whatever the reason; self-respect & preservation demands it. The pursuits of the narcissist are strictly self serving, covertly cruel, & insidious. Since the field of psychology is secular & so divorced from using language like "soul" or other metaphysical concepts, I see no distinction between narcissist behavior & conventionally evil actions. Whether overt or covert, the repercussions destroy lives & 'evil' behavior is a fair descriptive word to use, even if one isn't partial to divergent epistemological origins in conceptualizing human nature.

Feeling depressed for the state of the world and actual depression are two very different things.... real depression you can't feel joy even if something great happens, even if you have everything you could want in life, it's something that goes on inside of you and it doesn't depend on what's happening outside directly although of course things could worse it.... On the other hand if you are truly healthy in your mind, emotions and soul, the world can be a grey place, it might be hard to navigate but you could always feel hope and feel that light inside. If your emotions always depend on what is going on outside that's more a sign of weak energetic boundaries and copedendent tendendies I would say.... I've been down all the rabbit holes, not just that, once I started to do real healing work I remembered past lives... I know about all the darkness and deep satanic shit, deception and agendas that have been going on not just because of researched but because my soul lived through it... and this is why I also know that if you truly heal your state of being is not effected by what goes on outside... you said it yourself if you know it's based on your soul. But you see, a lot of narcissism is depression. They hate themselves a lot and often feel empty inside due to having no goals or sense of purpose so they build an image to cover it up and try to fit in. It's very much the mentality of kids and this is due to some trauma they had in the past which was left unresolved so they failed to develop emotionally in a lot of ways. There are many who just decide to isolate from the world so they don't cause any harm. It's a miserable existence of self hate and fitting in which some types of narcissists take it out unto others at the slightest inconvenience.

The big difference is ungratefulness. A depressed person wants to get treatment and if someone online gives them unbiased advice, they won't lash out and project onto the person who wants to help them as a narc would, because you can't heal "depression" in a narcissist and to do so would expose them, and they definitely don't want to be exposed and so they make excuses and say "You can't make me do this.", "What if I don't want to?", "I don't need to hear that from you." and things like that. Anything to avoid getting help (excluding self-diagnosing themselves or going until they get a diagnosis and then quitting) - UNLESS they find a therapist that enables them because the therapist only sees it as depression and it's now the narc's little echo chamber to complain about everyone towards and to be enabled, therapists cannot talk back to someone if they think that person's being toxic, that's not a part of their job, sadly.

I can tell you that he is a narcissist not just from a need to control, but a need to be constantly with someone. He cannot stand to be alone and absolutely does not know how to be comfortable with themselves. He's afraid of growing old alone. I can be alone without a problem but he cannot. Eventually, when my cabin is complete on my property, I'll be moving out and about 25 miles away. I'll still be working at the same place as him. I just wonder how he'll cope when I'm gone. I'm sure he'll find someone else to fixate on but I wish the best for him.

I told you quite bluntly the first time and have no problem with stating it loud and clear again: your comment is narcissistic and an attempt to reinforce a male narcissist contract called Patriarchy. And NEWSFLASH: Statistics DO lie because they are funded by people with political and social biases. I'm a college educated woman. I've read scholastic articles as far back as 1880. At one point the scholastic opinion was that Clitorectomies cured women of mental illness. Just because a person with academic credentials publishes something doesn't mean it has survived the test of time. I wouldn't trust any study published before 2015 because of the lack of diversity in educational institutions, which were previously dominated by white males. Plenty of modern studies after 2015 show that children of heterosexual 2 parent homes produce narcissists. I've seen religious Narcissists everywhere, all led by religious institutions like Islam, Christianity and Judaism which promote male dominated and male led households. They all produce Narcissists in their religious groups.

To help with this, someone dating a narc could say something like “I feel like sometimes you need a lot of validation from me to feel ok, and I just wanted you to know that I’m happy to try to provide that for you as often as you need, because I love you just as you are ❤️” for example, as that would let them know that you see the REAL them, and you love them despite the “shameful flaws” they have

The grandiose narc I know actually has something more than Narcissism - maybe be bipolar or split personality disorder. As Dr Ramani mentioned that it's very common, now I'm able to relate. I thought nobody will believe me that he's not just a Narc but something more than that & ppl will just think that I'm adding other terms, just to make him look more monstrous. But I knew that a normal interaction wasn't possible with him as his reaction was always different from what I expected to be (from a normal person) he was highly highly insecure & used to eavesdrop my telephonic conversations & sometimes randomly calling me 'not trust worthy' out of context.. & telling stories to dozens of people behind my back and I was always left wondering that what have I done/spoken to be called 'deceptive' 'not trustworthy', etc. Now I understand it was not me, it was his issues. The issues he was projecting on me & claiming that Im the 'mad person' and still using it against me. Secondly, the relationship patterns are always same. I saw him using exactly same ways to hover, love bomb, pursue other women. A narc will repeat same relationship patterns & will use same dialogues, same songs, etc. to catch attention of new women. This shows 2 things - 1. The love was not genuine as a normal person cant imagine new person in old person's story. For a narc, past person & new person are not 2 different ppl but 2 supplies. I cant listen to same old songs & dedicate them to my new person & will bury all memories related to him in past but Narc wont do that. He will use old songs to remind himself of the harm & hurt he caused you & will be causing to the new person too. So, old songs will remain with him like a pleasant memory that he got out of it without facing any consequences of his actions. 2. Rigidness & inability of a Narc to change.. he will repeat all the same old patterns whether its a new person or old one. They will never change even after therapy.

Now that I'm 38, I see perhaps that was him tryin to live out the little kid in himself. Pretending he's a sheriff or cowboy who knows. My dad's story is very sad. His own mother told him he was a thorn in her side since the day he was born. This is when he was 55 and dying of cancer. Had chemo and hair falling out etc. Lost even mote weight. When he was little she forced him to ride his bike and pull the lawn mower behind it and mow lawns. She'd take it money and give him like a quarter for a candy or soemthing. @@velicanmaria7772 Most of the times narcissists hate social media, and many of them look extremely positive or happy on social media because it hides their real life. I was 15y/o when a boy who was 18 at that time forced me to get into a relationship with him. I told him NO several times but then he used to get so angry that I got afraid. Yes, people like this exist and I have suffered through narcisstic abuse from him for more than a year. He gaslighted me too and it was really hard to seek for help because I was too young to understand this situation. Now I am going to be 17 next month and I still struggling because of the trauma of that toxic relationship. He also was in relationship with another girl when he asked me for a "break". He lied to me about his substance abuse but he smokes a lot of weed and drinks alcohol. I am still figuring out how I can heal, I have tried meditation and it helps but i am still extremely angry that I had to suffer and waste my time and energy bcuz of him and he is out there living freely. And also, he thinks that he did nothing wrong and that I am too sensitive.

One time a lady I had a chance meeting with at a small party said something that was quite enlightening for me as I’d never heard it thought of that way. She said,,,”depression is just anger without enthusiasm.” Like it meant that it was the flip side. Suppress anger, you get depressed. It must be dealt with. I liked your comment on the abscess drained. Makes a void that has to heal. But sometimes I keep picking the sore(s) of what all I suffered as a child. That interferes, sometimes, with taking flight. ////A lot of f**ked up people on earth; since this isn’t the place where the together people come.- And I am remembering one of the older circuit people,,Bradshaw, talk about how we keep attracting the same people,,,only,,, if we do our work,,, we attract the ones on our new level. Yet, it’s really hard to change. Most of who we are, and believe we are, stems from our in-utero experience, plus the first several years of childhood. We’re already wounded and told not to exist by the narcissist and then the ritual stabbings that occur the rest of our growing up make us dead ,,with rage inside. My parents were a trip.- I did do a process called corrective parenting therapy for 5 years. I’m about to embark on my 70th decade just trying to love and accept myself , and keep processing all I know. Then I have my faith , which is the best thing my parents gave me -w all the neglect and abuse. At least for me, Jesus and the Bible explain a lot. And I truly love Jesus.

They do tend to have a genetic component but the environment plays the majority of the part in causing it and if your parent has it your more likely to as well. BPD being more likely to harm themselves to manipulate others as well as may verbally degrade or explode someone who they think was special that “abandoned” then. Narcissists haven’t fully grown up yet that’s why there’s a dependency on others. The feeling of emptiness is usually filled by cheating as they need to know that they are still wanted by others. They’ll tell you they love you only when they’re after something usually sex. They also have a heightened sexual drive and aren’t very fussy about who they’re sleeping with when cheating it’s just the thrill they love of doing something they’re not supposed to be.

Like everyone else, they, too, have made choices all of their lives, to walk down a particular path, and they have continually chosen their attitudes and actions. Given the harm they do, given how they devastate the lives of their children, spouses and others around them, given that they keep on making hateful, manipulative, dishonest choices, are they not responsible for their behavior like everyone else?? They know what they're doing. They know they hurt people, that they destroy their relationships and family, and they don't care. They'll even occasionally say so. Their behavior underscores that reality.
