after hearing this song and the depth of the lyrics, the next nothing more song you do should be fade in/fade out.....just an unbelievable message....i know cause of you mentioning the lack of a father figure in your life that this song could get to you.....i know it gets to me since my father passed away a few years ago and wish we could have gotten to a better place in our relationship that we were working on. thank you for being you bro and being genuine in your care for others.

I actually got to meet them after a show and they are some seriously down-to-earth people. Johnny Hawkins has gone through a lot of emotional turmoil in his life. I love them because of the intensity of their lyrics combined with the technicality of their instrument work. "God Went North", "Just Say When" and "Fade In/Fade Out" are some of their best songs. You should honestly just do a full album reaction to their last album "The Stories We Tell Ourselves".

As someone who suffers with Bipolar Disorder along with drug and alcohol addiction this song hits me sooo hard and I remember first hearing it years ago during a very low point in my life where I had broken through rock bottom and was literally planning on going through with taking my own life and this song came across my Pandora at the time while getting high and I hate to sound cheesy and cliche but this song saved my life that day. Without this song coming on that day I wouldn't be here now as a father of an amazing 2 year old who has shown me joy and love I never could have imagined!! ❤️❤️ I told you that you'd absolutely love this video Alex 👍🏻😊

Lead vocalist, Jonny Hawkins wrote this song about his aunt, Jenny who suffers from schizophrenia and his sister Jenna who has bipolar disorder. I saw the band in a Q & A and Jonny said this was one of the most difficult songs he's ever written, but his sister gave her approval after reading the lyrics before they began recording.

Well I guess I'm sharing my story then: I was officially diagnosed with severe clinical anxiety and depression around 3 years ago when I was 20. However after multiple therapists the latest few all concluded that they believe this is something I've been dealing with and hiding from others and denying to myself for upwards of 9 years. I'm a gay male and a lot of my issues stem from growing up in an environment that of both toxic masculinity and a dislike of LGBTQ+ people from certain family members. Whilst things have improved with family, I still have major self confidence, self esteem and self worth issues, as well as general issues with anxiety and depression. Due to these problems I've attempted suicide twice, both times in 2016 and both times someone was there to stop me. If they weren't, I doubt I'd be typing this comment now. Things are improving somewhat and therapy has been going really well recently, but I still have little self worth and worry about the lack of a future I feel I have. I can't hold down a job because I panic constantly when it comes to interacting with strangers, especially if there's conflict, and unfortunately the current UK job system makes it hard to find jobs that aren't sales based when you've had limited experience in other fields. This always lead to my depression becoming worse because I felt unable to do something as simple as have a job like most people and felt worthless. I felt constantly sorry for my partner of over 5 years who has to support us both, and whilst he says he doesn't mind and knows I'm struggling, I often think he'd be better off without me. But he's the light of my life and without him I feel I wouldn't have a reason to keep living anymore. I'm hoping to try and get back into work when this course of therapy ends, but I'm still scared of the future. Thanks for this video Alex. I adore Nothing More and this song is the one that hits me hardest because I honestly relate to Jenny in some way.

I knew I had issues with my over all happiness and attention but never did I think I was a walking mental illness. At the age of 16 I became a father and dropped out of school and at 19 my own father passed away in his sleep. I am now about to be 23 with 0 credits in high school and I have spent the last year alone in my room trying to simply be happy. naturally I got into drugs, went as far as meth but I had a good look in the mirror one day and decided meth just wasn't helping anybody. Everyday I am torn between feeling like a failure and knowing I was born with things that hold me back. I fear I will end up in the streets and be another statistic but I am lucky to have a family that loves me and will do anything to prevent that. I guess I am sharing for those who feel like no one else really gets it, or maybe to even help others feel better about them selves. I would like to end with 4 things that help me in rough times when overwhelmed with an emotion in case it may help others. 1 Drink a tall glass of cold water as fast as you can 2 Take an extreme shower, hot or cold. 3 Take 3 deep breaths. In your nose as deep as you can and out your mouth just as deep. 4 Which i know can be the hardest: Simply walk away Best of luck friends

That sounds really tough brother. The most frustrating thing about mental health diagnoses, is that they all tend to be co-morbid; meaning that if you suffer from one, you're more likely to suffer from more than one at the same time. It all has to do with your personal and unique brain chemistry, and that's why it takes FOREVER to find the right meds that actually help. It sounds like you've found some healthy coping mechanisms, and good on ya. I'm still working on that part. Keep on keeping on my dude.

I struggle with high anxiety and went through a very bad weed addiction going through almost half a cart in one hour and panicking along with not showering and being to anxious to do anything if I didn’t have it which also led to use of alcohol and benzos but now sober for about 21 months off my drug of choices now I’m 22 about to be 23. Also have aspergers but thankfully I’m getting the help I need and finally doing well though I don’t know how I survived all the rage and panic attacks. We need to be connected with others there’s no way i can do this myself. I’ve also been taking on exercise yoga and meditation along with getting in a band. I’m extremely thankful for my family and friends and really hope that you guys have the needed support as well. Things really do work themselves out if you do the next right thing. I love that people feel connected here. I am bipolar, I was homeless for years, an IV heroin and meth addict now in recovery, and I am also now a certified therapist at a rehab. It's great to communicate here, it truly is. Thank you for providing a safe place for people to be vulnerable. But please please please if you need help for mental health or addiction issues contact a professional in your area who can help or refer you to someone who can. Just sharing is not enough. You have a lot of work to do to fix what's going on. But it's possible, I promise you. If you cant trust yourself trust in the fact that there is a better way to live. A more in fulfilling way, and you deserve to experience that. Good luck to everyone, and please take care of yourselves and eachother.

I haven't talked about this for years and haven't felt any need for it until now when I'm having a down period in my life. I grew up with an alcoholic mom and a father who escaped her by spending all of his time out in the garage, Everytime I tried to approach my mom while she sat in the kitchen to drink and smoke she yelled at me to get the fuck out of there because she wanted to be alone. This has affected me in such a way that I never feel welcome anywhere even if I were to be invited. I always step aside not to "disturb" the people in my environment, I always feel out of place in social events and just want to escape back home so I can be alone even if I'm enjoying it. I noticed how it affected me when I was around 18-19 when I got into tears when my ex gf told me I was welcome in her house. That was the very first time I ever got told that I was welcome anywhere. For a couple of years I tried to ignore the past to focus on the future, but now at 25 it has come back and I always feel awkward when outside and don't know how to behave in social environments.. Crazy how your childhood can affect your life even if it was 15 years ago... Felt kinda good opening up about this, thank you Alex for a great video!

This is pretty much what he said at the time..........There's a heart-rending section of this song where Hawkins sings: Maybe you should just fall Leave the world and lose it all This was what he felt toward his sister when she began destroying those around her. "It was really just a challenge to my sister Jenna, because it had gotten so bad that she was literally harming my mom and my dad emotionally, physically, and financially, because of how deep down the dark road she was going," he said. "It was sad to say, but I had gotten to a point where I would rather her either kill herself or decide to get better and just take steps in the right direction... sink or swim.

My “Jenny” in my life is my sister Jessi (I actually replace the word Jenny to Jessi when hearing this song) she has had a long history of drug abuse, she was my mother’s medical power of attorney when she was on her death bed, she wnded up prematurely pulling the plug on my moms life so that she could take the life insurance money and use it to feed her habit. My other sister and I didn’t get to say goodbye to my mom. We never got to have a funeral for her because Jessi ran off with her ashes and was on the run from the law until finally getting incarcerated a year ago for drug charges. This song weighs so heavy on my heart because I love my sister through all the pain she has caused my family

Last summer I was in a really bad place. Basically I had lost a job that I thought would get me going on my career path, the company just decided to screw me over. Due to that, I was devastated financially, and almost lost everything. Depression and anxiety hit me hard, because trying to find a new job was almost impossible. There were some days that I really felt that I wanted it all to end, that nothing was worth it anymore. Somehow I fought through it, and I'm glad to say those thoughts are no longer with me. There are some days that they creep back up, but metal has always made every day better, and seeing your reactions to these songs also really helps. I am SO happy that you listened to this song; it holds a special place in my heart. My birth mother is Jenny, she has schizophrenia and is a drug addict. Her mother raised me (I consider my grandmother my mom) and I can see how much she still loves my birth mother and how her condition breaks her heart. I've never felt a connection to my birth mother, but when I hear this song, with how intense it is musically and lyrically, I can truly feel how my mom (grandmother) feels about her own Jenny.

I've been depressed since 2009 started when I was 12, I've had 2 attempts nearly 3 but my cousin helped me to get help before I could try, but the Hospital, the meds, the therapy, none of it really helped me, I was still depressed after all of it, and I still think about trying it again almost everyday, one thing that I think about just to hold on a little longer is a quote from the TV show 'Supernatural' at one point in S7 one of the main Characters Dean is talking about how hard it is for him to keep going on and then another character Frank tells him "decide to be fine till the end of the week, make yourself smile because you're alive and that's your job, then do it again the next week" don't know why that scene just resonated with me, but every time I watch that part (rewatched the whole thing 7 times so far) it reminds me to just keep going just a little longer, I still have family and people that need me, so I just keep trying to take it a week at a time. But it isn't easy half the time I get off work and just cry.

I make it a point to make comments in the chats, and because I'm right there I'm usually in the first 40 or 50 comments, so I can be pretty sure he's going to be reading them. For instance there was another Halestorm fan on this mornings chat, and we managed to exchange about 4 messages between us. I'm pretty sure that the set up that Alex is using is a lot easier to keep track of things because he has made return comments to 3 or 4 chat line comments that I managed to insert into the flow. So insert your/our Halestorm comments, even just a short "Miss the Misery, Halestorm, anyone with me? He will probably see it, and I've got returns from other people in the chat too. And keep up the requests in the comments too, it sure couldn't hurt. Fair warning though once he puts another Halestorm song up, I intend to pester him with Evanescence requests
