Kraftwerk mostly for the electronic music. DM's influence went beyond that. Many of today's metal bands for example have been influenced by DM. The influence is much broader.

i find theres a lot less melody, and the hole album seems to follow the same pattern, its good though i do like it, this song is the one that stands out for me though.

Depeche Mode is one of the most innovative and imaginative bands of all time. They truly defined 80-s music. 35 years later and they are still going strong! I love these guys

Absolutely. Their music has pulled emotions out of me I didn't even know I had. Listening to the best DM albums is like visiting another dimension.... Makes you want to never come back to this one...

I can't believe that so much of people and DM fans still dont get how subtly genius this song is, and how genius the whole album is. People listen and dont even see the full picture on who and what they listen to, failing to observe. We truly failed, aren't we.

they formed as a band in 1977 and this is 2017 as I see it her math could be correct .There first album came out in 81 and I became a fan in 88 and have followed them since. Some people are lucky enough to see the beginning of a band I have seen a few bar bands go on to make it big so get the facts john before you judge others cause I guess history isn't your strong point.

So many people trying to pigeonhole this song into their own ideology. So hypocritical. You're missing the big obvious. It's about all controlling ideologies. Political, religious, etc. They're all self-serving and rarely serve the people. War and hatred. It's not anti-government, its pro-voice of the people. It's satirical in the sense that every sentence has a double meaning. "They Manipulate and Threaten with Terror as a Weapon" being the most obvious example. That sentence covers both a) governments that use the fear of "Terror" as control b) the ideological asshat terrorists that blow shit up. It's not one or the other. The imagery of them pushing a pulpit around and saying what they need to say in order to gain votes, followers, or control (get on board, WE'RE the truly righteous ones, HONEST!) isn't isolated to any single government in the past. It's a part of all of them. Abuse and manipulation occurs and it's because there is rarely any true honesty behind the power of leadership & leadership of power. Anton uses historical imagery in the sense that Carl Jung does, as archetypes. If anything, this song in the most simplest of meanings is an anti-propaganda piece.

I have been a DM fan for 30 years. Martin & Dave did not grow up in America but felt inclined to move here AFTER they have made their millions. They have no idea what the middle class does and has done to make America what is is/was and after decades of liberal ideology trying to change what really did make America great. They can move back to a more progressive socialist state in western Europe for all I care because there is a movement to make America great again.

As we're heading into 2022, this song is more relevant than ever. It's like they saw the future and tried to warn us.

They are the real spirit of rock because their songs try to open our eyes .Rock was born exactly for this.Rock is love for the music,love for the people,for the humanity but also pain ,suffering...And their lyrics are amazing right for these reasons.Their lyrics are better than any other shitty rock/pop band like u2.Sorry i made a mistake ahah.I mean shitty "pop band" like u2.And then we can t even consider depeche only like a synth pop band because they can play different genres using always the synths like main instrument.So u are right they play a special way of synthpop but i prefer consider them an alternative band or a rock elettronic band for what i said before and because they play more the guitar now compared to the past.It is no coincidence that many new rock artists inspired to them.Look Ramnstein,Linkin park,even i ve read an interview where Billy Gibbons from Zztop seeing a DM concert was surprised by their music.He said there was "blues" in their songs. He couldn t understand why without drums,guitar,bass they could play in this way.So It is no coincidence if the real rock artists show their respect for depeche mode.They saw a new way to make Rock in depeche mode music.Depeche are one of the few band that which have that privilege. @@NordTraveler Нет не была, я в Германии живу. Мы с сыном на концерты ходили в разные года, и сыну очень понравилось, хотя он другую музыку предпочитает. Самая благодарна я публика-это в Польше. Стадионы переполнены там, яблоку негде упасть. А в Германии публика сытая и зажравшаяся. Представляете ходят, едят, пьют. На группу 0 внимания. Смотреть противно. А ещё у него 2 альбома за 2015 год,... класс! Но это уже он исполняет не с "Депешами", Вы слушали? 👍👍👍🤗

There's more than just politics. The whole contemporaneity seems to be there since by the end of the day all is made of people (wich are, of curse, people (1984)). The first group of marchers is made of men; the second (flag holders), women. "Martin" walks along with the first, then ends up playing along for all. Indeed a masterpiece. The more you watch, the more you find. There's a dagger or crucifix on 1:11 as someone here noticed... Also, the Beatles Revolution would be an interisting listening and the "comparison" (time/context/band/lyrics) would make a good study I guess.

Such artists or bands don't create songs anymore. They create Excellence ! This song "Where's The Revolution" is such a pure masterpiece, not only in the melody but also in the deep and meaningful lyrics. This is the true power : when you have achieved success and fame at such a high level that you can afford to be above all these bureaucrats and politicians, and denounce all their schemes.

Кстати тогда в 2016 году, в группе Depeche Mode, конкретно в этой песне группы Depeche Mode, эта студийная аудиозапись Depeche Mode - Where's the Revolution, в студии звукозаписи Дэйв Гаан, Мартин Гор, Энди Флетчер, другие студийные сессионные музыканты, аранжировщики и звукорежиссёры смогли скопировать старый стиль аранжировок Алана Уайлдера 😁. Ну почти получилось нащупать именно то самое старое музыкальное аудиозвучание, старый дух DM. Впрочем есть настоящий ремикс Алана Уайлдера на эту песню группы Depeche Mode, аудиотрэк Depeche Mode - Where's the Revolution (Alan Wilder remix) - звучит получше и побыстрее, это тоже старый стиль Depeche Mode 🎼🎼😃🎶🎵

Perfect soundtrack for the last 12 months

I'm almost 22 so this isn't exactly my demographic. But I grew up with a mother who grew up listening to DM. She often played DM for my younger brother and myself. I attended my very first concert ever by going to a DM concert with my mother at the age of 12 - I was most likely the youngest DM fan at that area. Don't let my young age fool you; I am a true DM fan and I've been waiting for this or so many years. I can't wait to attend on of their concerts in the nearest future - with my mom of course ;-)
