I watched this exact concert with my father in 2018. Just this past week I watched Depeche Mode again in Cologne, but DM didn't have Fletch anymore, and I didn't have my dad anymore. Really glad this concert was captured so well❤️

An amazing performance of a song by the legend David Bowie
God, how much do I love this song??? let me count the ways. Dave is one of the few people able to sing this song successfully. I agree with another poster that the love angle is more clear on this version. Dave's voice and Martin guitar here always make me smile and bring back happy memories, now that I am in the late autumn of my life. We will be heroes, if just for one day :) :)

This is a love song about a couple meeting at the Berlin Wall. The David Bowie rendition just doesn't convey "love song" even when I listen to it looking for a love song. Mode changed the lyrics around a bit, and made the meaning of the song clearer. Phenomenal version, surpasses the original.

Incredible as it is, it doesn't hold a torch to Peter Gabriel's version. He took that song and made it his own.

@@PaulNangleMusic Peter Gabriel, who I love and have all his CDs, simply sings the Bowie version with his own unique style. Depeche Mode actually changed around the lyrics, to make it more clear the meaning of the song (a love story). Mode doesn't mention "dolphins" until almost 3 minutes into the song.
