Dennis Rodman: Beyond The Glory (Basketball Documentary)

Спорт

Documentary on NBA bad boy, infamous Dennis Rodman: Beyond the Glory.
Dennis Keith Rodman (born May 13, 1961) is a retired American Hall of Fame professional basketball player, who played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was nicknamed "The Worm" and was known for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities.
Rodman played at the small forward position in his early years before becoming a power forward. He earned NBA All-Defensive First Team honors seven times and won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award twice. He also led the NBA in rebounds per game for a record seven consecutive years and won five NBA championships. His biography at NBA.com states that he is "arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history." On April 1, 2011, the Pistons retired Rodman's No. 10 jersey, and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame later that year.
Rodman experienced an unhappy childhood and was shy and introverted in his early years. After aborting a suicide attempt in 1993, he reinvented himself as a "bad boy" and became notorious for numerous controversial antics. He repeatedly dyed his hair in artificial colors, had many piercings and tattoos, and regularly disrupted games by clashing with opposing players and officials. He famously wore a wedding dress to promote his 1996 autobiography Bad As I Wanna Be. Rodman pursued a high-profile affair with singer Madonna and was briefly married to actress Carmen Electra.
Apart from basketball, Rodman is a retired part-time professional wrestler and actor. He was a member of the nWo and fought alongside Hulk Hogan at two Bash at the Beach events. He had his own TV show The Rodman World Tour, and had lead roles in the action films Simon Sez and Double Team alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. Both films were critically panned, with the latter earning Rodman a triple Razzie Award. He appeared in several reality TV series and was the winner of the $222,000 main prize of the 2004 edition of Celebrity Mole. Rodman won the first ever Celebrity Championship Wrestling tournament.

I think Dennis Rodman is one of the most talented, colorful, smart and innovative athletics of all time. He started the trend with wearing different color hair and designs before any athletics did it. He was criticized 30 years ago. Now all the athletics have different color hair and it is acceptable. He was just as popular as michael jordan because everyone wanted to see what he was going to wear, color of hair or what he would do at games. He made tons of money outside of basketbal because of his creativity. Donald Trump said he was the smartest sportsperson he knew. He knew how to make tons of money doing unusual things. I read his autobiograpy and it was by far the best autobiography I read. Like Madonna said (his coach who told him how to make money) The more your name is in the media, especially negative. You can cry all the way to the bank and get all your money. Overloooked innovative person of last 30 years, especially in changing the face of sports. I never thought I would see athletics with different color hair and other styles. Dennis did it 30 years ago.

Dont understand the hate people are showing here. He went from being an immature and self centered person to growing up and taking controll of his life. That must've been extremely hard to change his life completetly. People who call him an idiot and so on have obviously never had big problems in their life or made major changes.

BUT my escape in this life was playing sports or doing anything and i never cared what anyone thought I just did what ever I Was doing the best i could blood sweat tears what ever it takes. Grandma always told me. WHAT EVER YOU DO IN THIS LIFE... you do it to the very best of your ability. And I still strive with that at anything in life. Who is probably in the top 5 all time players ever. When he got an assist and the player scored you could see his exuberance at the score. Who else gets invited to North Korea? If you take the time to look past the exterior, the masks he wears, there is a child guiding him. The child that will always live in his heart. You'll always be one of my heroes Mr. Rodman. I can't think of anyone else who is more true to themselves.

It's actually pretty incredible, most professional sports players especially basketball players were street kids who got saved by the sport. I see Rodman as a rockstar/rapper type who instead of just got saved by the rap game or music or basketball he was actually talented enough to get to do both. He was great enough to get the dream fulfillment as a pro basketball player and got to be a rock star. In most people's lives like him it's that they just get one or the other. He got both.

Fantastic athletic skills and talent. He had it all but he never understood how to use it or control it.

The NBA coaches of those teams used him and nothing more. He could have been much better if he was guided and helped him hone his skills more. (With the exception of the pistons) Considering the pain he had to do what he did is nothing short of incredible. I'm an ex alcoholic myself and you have no idea until you walk this path. One of the greatest players of all time. Love you bro 🤙❤
