I remember watching this live in the dota 2 client with my friends. This was an insane and legendary match. Me and my friends could not believe what we were witnessing. We also had to suffer a lot of pudges in our games after this 😂

@@jameskerns3297 it got patched soon after unfortunately. You can, however, hook both allies and enemies back to your position if they are tp'ing out I'd you time it right. You can also use this mechanic to save wisp after they have relo'd you back to base.

This game was really iconic and what made it really cool was the casting from Ayesee. Really inspired me to ruin pubs for 300 pudge games haha.

Dendi is the face of Dota forever. He made Dota 2 more popular.

@@coolasta1987 its easier to accept that they didnt plan this. this video gives us a more fleshed out view of theit fountain hook attempts. if they did plan this, they wouldnt have that many failed attempts. they would have fewer but more successful attempts than this. it's just as dendi said, lucky game.

Ngl, these are my best memories of Dota 2. TI3 is the best TI for me, the fountain hook moment and r[A]t at final are the best.

Glad I´ve got to watch it live. I´ve tried to do this combo with the few friends I had at the time, it was hard as fuck to make it work, only Dondo and Puppey could do it so many times in a Pro match at that Stage.

Yea, he touched on it but they really had some immaculate timing to hit so many of them in a match.

2023 and its still make me goosebumps,

No one could TP out of hook in TI3 because it applied disability to move, use skills and items, equal to a stun. Following year or 2 Icefrog played with removing first and third disable (having ability to rotate and use items) but returned to the stun eventually. I was a guy who abused fountain hooking in LoL before Dota 2 announced (and where everyone doesn't need Chen). When I got a beta key I messed around with wtf and bots where I found it actually works in Dota 2 while not working in WC3 map. It was the only right choice to remove it, but using this mechanic is insanely hard and doing so on TI stage as the only path to victory was great nonetheless!

It's actually worked in Warcraft 3 map, aka Dota 1. Why I know? I tried before and it's actually a popular move in Dota 1. Not sure about LOL.

How can you fountain hook in LOL? Flash hooking is a thing but AFAIK there’s no instant home teleport for LoL

@@PROcrastinatingnao There's a short window at the end of Recall in which you can cast a spell without cancelling, the rest is the same as with Flash. Rito made it as small as possible after many people start to abuse it with Darius back in a day, but it is still there.

Yes, you could TP out, it was the same as with Wisp relocate. EGM was doing it all the time.

U can tp out. Even blink out after the cd hit.

you could tp out the mechanic was that if the tp went off just after you arrived to the fountain then you got teleported to your destination.. if your tp finished before arriving to the fountain then you would get teleported to the destination only until the time you would have arrived to the fountain and then just got teleported to pudge's fountain.. so you had to time it to be after this time to get out and it had to be close otherwise pudge would eat you.. if pudge precast dismember on you then tough luck you cant get out..

this got changed after this TI.. the change in the mechanic was that the target no longer latched to pudges location after the hook but the initial hook point's location.. the tp mechanic i guess still works but there is no hook long enough to channel a tp through

At the time, this was a "feature", they knew that they could do it, but it is much harder than you think, it was a "feature" from dota 1, so yes they did not plan that, and yes they knew about that, but this a strategy that you can not count with, Lod[A] is a good example to show that, he tried to do it too, and guess what? He did not make it

I watched this live and had bet a bunch of items on Tong Fu. I was so upset at the outcome. A huge % of people had bet on Na'Vi over Tong Fu but watching all of the games it was clear that Tong Fu was a top contender, though no one had anything on Alliance that year. At the time I thought it was a really cheap way to win and wondered how this could even be allowed but now I look back at it and commend them for that zero to hero comeback.

pretty sure blink was also blocked on pudge so you could not buy it, if you could fountain hooking would be alot easier. If onlu the tongfu heroes tp'd out or blocked the hook, but they paniced and could not recover

Dendi doesn't know how many pub games I had, where there was a pudge Chen combo failing to do this and throwing the games. 😂 Too bad it got parched immediately after

12:35 i m not sure but i think at that time buyback didnt have a cooldown yet. I think it was like another game later that year where a storm bought back 6 time in 10 mins and managed to turn a game around just buy going in and dying and bb and repeating

no lol buyback has always had a cooldown. although it was shorter before, I think 4 minutes, and there was a penalty where you earn less gold from all sources after you buyback for a few minutes

I remember getting in a discord chat with dendi and asking him the same thing about the fountain hook! I was so surprised to find out he actually tried it a few times in pubs and decided to use it as a secret weapon in TI. Not a coincidence, he knew what he was doing, legends will be legends

The most iconic game in Dota 2 history. Maybe in Dota history altogether (including DotA). Loda still crying trying to get NaVi disqualified for "bug abuse". If its in the TI patch, you just deal with it, you dont go crying like a little b1tch Loda. Thank god he eventualy won that TI otherwise we wouldnt hear the end of it 10 years later.
