The most likely answer to the seashell thing is that shells are a common staple of bathroom decor in the future, and that particular bathroom happened to have run out of T.P., so everyone was just playing a prank on John.
If I remember right, the entire thing with the Toilet Sea Shells was an injoke among the filming crew when they were staying at a hotel. Every room had three such decorative sea shells that did nothing in the toilet and someone asked why exactly are they even there. Then someone else remembered seeing those in some other hotel. It all snowballed into adding them into the movie for shits and giggles. Sadly I can't give the exact sourse, I only remember that I read the interview in some airline company's magazine during a long flight and that info somehow stuck with me.

The Taco bell/pizza hut thing is a big mess. At least in Scandinavia. The vhs came out with taco bell, so that's the one I remember. The DVD later came out with pizza hut. Seemed weird, like living the Mandela effect. Then pizza hut shut down in Scandinavia, making the reference mute. Then when it came out on Netflix, they changed it back to taco bell, but the subtitles still say pizza hut! We will have updates as the story progresses...

Really? I find her hideous. Her face is repulsive.
I am rewatching this in September of 2020 and I can not express how disappointed I am that every time I give someone a "mellow greetings" they just kind of stare at me blankly.
The thought and speech police prediction was bang on

As a UK resident I’ve only ever seen this movie with Taco Bell in it and was unaware that there was an edit with Pizza Hut subbed in.
One of my favorite Stallone lines is from this. When he's about to crash his car towards the end and he screams "BRAKE NOW YOU MICKEY MOUSE PIECE OF SHHHHIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!"
This movie is prophetic. We are now living in the Demolition Man future.
Fun fact: Jackie Chan was post to be the villain in this movie
This is seriously one of my favorite movies of all time.

DeAno Jackson- The same, here. I don't give a flying rip what the critics say about this film, otherwise...

@@tthomaselli2 actually critics are very positive towards the movie nowadays. it seems they were harsher on it back in the days.
They leave a hint the hostages were dead when Stallone gets arrested. He tells the other officers that he did a thermal scan and didn't pick up any hostages. That's because they were already dead. Love this movie and thanks for another great video guys!
I don't know why but I laughed at James getting the bubble gum
*Y'all need to review Flash Gordon (1980)!*
That was the most beautiful notification of my week!
Even now I still love watching the rental reviews
I like how James stacks up the VCRs at the bottom half of the screen to eliminate the awkard space in front of the speakers
pls do Strange Days!! (1995)
Tony totally looks like Tom Savinis son in this one.
Demolition Man was originally a Police song so it came out way before the movie... if it was an original song it would have been eligible (and the academy would still blow the choice)
