    Narcissists also “open up” with their wounded bird childhood trauma stories, how unfair their life has been, woe is me, so that you can feel bad for them and get hooked on trying to fix their lives. Which easily could’ve been Demi! It’s very possible.

    Love that you're addressing love bombing. Things should never move fast, especially not lightening fast. Huge red flag. Like you said you will inevitably be devalued by this person and discarded. It is a huge red flag of a personality disorder. Narcissists love bomb, idealise people and throw them away. Borderlines do too.

  • @user-kb8qw7dy4t

    @user-kb8qw7dy4t

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's true. As someone with a personality disorder, I tend to fall in love at first sight and move unreasonably fast. It's not something I do consciously, and I have to remind myself: "You do not really love this person whom you hardly even know. You're in love with a fictional character you've created in your own warped mind and projected onto this person." The toxic thing is that the other person cannot possibly live up to the unrealistic expectations, and once the fantasy is shattered and I see them for the flawed human being they really are, that's when the devaluation begins.

  • @Nomnom238
    @Nomnom2383 жыл бұрын

    When she announced she moved in with him after a week of knowing each other I was like 🙄. How do you let someone in to your circle that fast? As a celebrity people will always have uncertain intentions with you, let things evolve slowly. How do you even let someone you met yesterday to be IN YOUR HOUSE WITH YOUR BELONGINGS? Someone who’s actually interested in you will take their time to get to know everything about you and will plan a future with you on a healthy amount of time, otherwise either they’re just love bombing you to have power over you, or they are emotionally codependent to anybody that will pay attention to them because they have low self esteem and need validation.

    I agree but now that I'm 31, it's changed my for me. I realize that marriage is a sign of another lev of commitment, that is when the relationship was patient, loving, caring and respectful. In my community, we have to many baby mothers and men who have lowered our standards to never needing to get married. Most of my girlfriends from my upbringing and community can't get their baby's father to commit in marriage. I guess I look at it different now that I am older. I used to be okay with the non marriage, now I do want it but the relationship had to be built healthy from the foundation and with time.

    Shallon, about the ick: this is what you get after you crossed your own boundaries because you're hyper-attuned to the connection with the guy and simultaneously you're not consciously aware of what you yourself really want and feel. This is related to a Fearful Avoidant attachment style which is usually a result of enmeshment trauma experienced in childhood. Attachment theory really explains this precisely, I recommend it

  • @oilynose

    @oilynose

    3 жыл бұрын

    I came to the same conclusion when I was reading about enmeshment trauma earlier this year. I couldn't understand why I'd get the "ick", and it made me feel like a horrible person and like I was broken. It's massively helpful to understand the mechanism behind it.

    Whats enmeshment trauma

  • @bygracethroughfaith589

    @bygracethroughfaith589

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@gracecandelaria406 enmeshment can be present in adult relationships, but also in our caregiver-relationship we have in childhood. Enmeshment trauma in childhood happens when the boundaries between a parent and child are too weak/blurry. Example: a very smothering parent is too involved in their child's life and behaves more like a peer than a parent. Another example: a narcissistic parent doesn't respect the child's feelings and boundaries because the narcissist perceives the child as an extension of their own personality, not an autonomous individual. Of course there are many other scenarios that could create enmeshment trauma, but if it happens with a parent, it influences how we behave in adult relationships. If what I said resonates with you, I highly recommend researching attachment styles! If your boundaries were crossed when you were younger, this literally gets programmed into your subconscious mind. So if you "feel the ick" with guys, it comes from the trauma of blurry boundaries. It's not your fault. These programmings in your subconscious mind can be changed and healed, but takes time. Please have compassion on yourselves :)

In his loneliness he attracted me. I felt heard and wanted and began love bombing. Showering with gifts and trying to convince him I would be the better option. Clearly that did not work. When I realized what I was doing and did some therapy to regain my self confidence and understand my worth I stopped. I am worthy and I’m a bad ass. No need to convince anyone to love me.

    I think Demi needs therapy and this unhealthy relationship with Max was, of course, partly her responsibility. When you first began to speak on this topic, Shallon, I thought for sure I had been a “victim” of a love bomber or two, and I probably was. But, what is also true is that I think of may have also been the love bomber more than once. It wasn’t malicious; I wasn’t trying to hurt someone. I was empty and wanted to “make” a particular person love me. So I’d “sparkle” all over someone who was perhaps not as good-looking, not as well-educated, or whatever, and make them quickly feel that they had really scored. Then I’d become somewhat disillusioned with them and disgusted with myself, and I’d eventually dump them. It was horrible, and I wish I hadn’t done it, but I wasn’t very self aware and didn’t realize what I was doing. I’d never behave that way today. It was a long time ago. I’m so grateful that’s no longer who I am. I not only have some self-awareness, but I also have developed, through hard work, better self-esteem, and I continue to work on that. I don’t need to love bomb someone to feel better. Thanks so much for the topic, Shallon.

    The first part of Kate Voegele's Forever and Almost Always explains this perfectly. Demi is in love with love and wants to have it so bad. She needs to find it within herself first. I'm not saying people with mental disorders shouldn't be in relationships, we all deserve love but I think relationships only work when we are in a healthy place or at least are trying. Demi is still recovering from her past and she ended up getting involved with a man who unfortunately used her for fame.

    Justina B rewatch the part where she talks about when she punched her backup dancer and says out loud ”i can be really manipulative ” when she went to her manager and said ”i just want to say thank you to the person who tattled on me” so that she could punch them in the face

    I think Demi has a Fearful Avoidant or maybe Anxious Preoccupied attachment style

    This is total speculation on my part; I hope Demi takes care of herself because she deserves it but likely won't unless she seeks therapy. I recommend Dr. Honda in Seattle.

    I think she bought the ring herself and said "here, give this to me and we'll be engaged".

    Just a little addition to the Borderline Personality Disorder and love-bombing link (even if it was briefly mentioned) - sufferers feel emotions a lot more intensely and struggle with boundaries, so tend to come on strongly in relationships. What can be considered "basic" levels of attraction in neurotypicals can feel like full blown love and mesmerisation... kind of like being under a love spell. In the spectrum of personality disorders, BPD falls on the opposite end of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Often they fall prey to the love bomber who will later use, abuse and discard them. As a sufferer of BPD myself (or Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, as it's also known), I just really wanted to clarify that. There are so many misconceptions out there, even in the medical field, I just really, really wanted to clear up that they're not one and the same, for anyone who might be reading/watching this

    Shallon, i dont know if you are ever going to see this comment, BUT you didn't have to call me out like that about the desperation behind being over the top when you like someone, and then getting the "ick!" .... Jesus Christ, you are making me question why i dont use instagram, so i can see more of you. I do love your videos, and from what you say, I drink it all in, and you have been great help for me, personally. I have commented on some videos of yours, because many things that you have said or done, apply to me, and as you say, i now realize it wasn't good for me, and those around me. Now, I tell/ask myself "what would Shallon do? Would she be proud of this?" Thank you, so much, for being so informative. As an only child, I think of you as that big sister I wish I had.

    Could you do a video on future faking? I feel like it goes alongside with lovebombing perfectly. I’ve been a victim of future faking a few times because I’m a sucker for romance and am easily manipulated by men promising the world 😂 x
