It would be pretty cool if you actually only controlled kris' soul and was forced to attack, but since you can move around you can try your best to not let your attacks hit your party members

Yeah, but in snowgrave after Kris is down during the Berdly fight Noelle says "I can still heart their voice" when asked to stop, so it is clear that at least in battle we also are in command.

@@NoName-oz3gj The player's soul is actually seen during the fight. I've seen people speculating that Ralsei sent our soul to Susie. I myself am on the fence when it comes to most Ralsei theories. But it seems that ralsei most likely sent our soul to Susie (possibly to have that discussion with Kris).

“The Legend is kinda the game’s main theme.” Well, yes, but technically, no? Yes, as in “yeah, it’s one of the main themes of the game”, and no, as in “there is another”. The Don’t Forget leitmotif, present in Light World tracks, the credits of the chapters, the Roaring explanation and… The World Revolving, for some reason. It’s also interesting to note that there has yet to be a song in the game that utilises both leitmotifs. They’ve been kept separate so far. Contrast Don’t Forget’s use with The Legend, used entirely in the Dark World in situations relating to the Prophecy and the Knight, and in Chaos King. The “Chaos King-The World Revolving” comparison gets a little more interesting when you realise that the The Legend is used for the final boss of the chapter (about the Knight and all that) while Don’t Forget is used for the secret boss of the chapter (about freedom, which is connected to Kris).

A fun play on the phrase "living in your brother's shadow", huh? What I like about this song is, while it's definitely full of energy, it's absolutely brimming with desperation. This is clearly meant to be a scary encounter. Like the Knight took the fight to you and you were not prepared to face it. In that way, it reminds me of Your Best Nightmare a little, which I suppose is apt given the choice of who you decided to be The Knight.

@@Sgg6 Asriel is already confirmed to be in Deltarune due to the MANY dialogues namedropping him, but since Flowey is Asriel, not separate people, Flowey won’t have been ‘transferred’ to Deltarune. And, Deltarune may well be an alternate timeline, which would mean (unless someone murders Azzy and gets some weird ideas with DETERMINATION) that Flowey doesn’t exist in Deltarune. Probably.

This is so lovely, I really like Catti's design being an occult member since she mentions it in chapter 2 :) very fitting and the music is great!! I think the leitmotifs are Nightmare Night, Megalo Strikeback, The legend, Gaster's theme, world revolving/secret boss theme, Don't forget, His theme, and I think there's a recurring theme inspired by the opening to Your best nightmare as well? It's all super well done truly, like damn o-o

Saying that in all caps makes it really threatening, but no since his whole face would be covered notice the long goat horns on his head, plus nicecream guy is blue, plus he’s holding Kris in captivity so it’s Asriel, himself being evil again, but corrupted with darkness, but he can be made good, and a powerful ally, but it won’t come easy.

The little tracey effects on The Knight's sprite makes me yearn to see it floating around like Asriel's initial phase in Undertale, minus the rainbow background bit. The simple blue platform and black void make The Knight 10x more imposing.

I can see the huge inspiration of Toby Fox's Knightmare Night lol. I will say I love the 'The Legend' section a lot better but thats because I feel it really nails the "if there was to be a Knight Boss and it wasnt against Kris, this would be the theme". Id love to see what would happen if you went more in that direction if you were up for it

Absolutely love this take on the Knight's theme, love that it incorporates Nightmare Knight as well! Was just curious as to what instruments were used in it. Of course, I'm not asking for a full list of all sf2's you used, but was just curious if you were inspired from any game's instruments in particular? Thought I'd mention as well, the pixel art looks real cool as well! - Just noticed the dead pixel in the left corner, gotta have that, it's iconic

I like to imagine that in this fight, you're still the one controlling Kris, and you have no choice but to fight them. You can see Noelle, Susie, and Catty take their turns, but you have no control over the buttons they press.

I love that there's a stray pixel at the bottom left of the arena.

Nightmare Knight sounds like Kirby music, and so every good mashup with it has that feel. This one has it, and I love it.

On the topic of Ralsei here... he states in Chapter 2 that during The Roaring, all darkners would eventually turn to stone. It could be implied here that The Roaring is happening and has to be stopped, and the stone thing happened to Ralsei and he isn't there because of that. Just a thought, though.

Amazing! You really captured Toby's essence in this! Ps. No one's talking about it, but at 1:30, you can faintly hear His Theme in the background

Masterfully done with the instrumental separation. Most retro sounding music I hear now a days is too flat so it's hard to make out the individual components.

My favorite part is definitely 0:25 to 0:50. The dreamlike, almost hazy-ish instruments leading up to a guitar solo is perfect. Seriously, I hope we get a boss in Deltarune that uses those „Dreamlike“ instruments, it’s really unique and makes the song stand out from other USTs.

One of my favorite ideas that I’ve thought of is the red soul kris discards getting ripped out of him for good and placed inside someone else, and us having to save him. Maybe that’s the implication here with cathy. I’ve always wondered if a person can retain their ability to speak normally when having the soul in them, like imagine talking to Susie as the soul and explaining that you’ve just been trying your best to do good.

I had a similar idea Once the knight has taken down the trio, everything freezes like during the yellow soul tutorial and the player is prompted to mash the arrow keys. The soul then bursts out of Kris and gathers up energy to become the vessel.

Perfect.... It would be such a coincidence if this was actually lore of the next game

So the motifs I'm hearing are: Nightmare Knight The Legend Megalo Strike Back(The intro part) Don't Forget Lost Girl ☟︎✋💣 The secret boss motif His Theme/Memory It's an amazing theme... Though I refuse to accept playable Catti not wielding Jockington as a weapon, or Ralsei not being part of this fight for that matter. Also, please stop the Kris abuse, first you literally hang them and then you sic a t-posing salesman on them. They suffer more in this video than in the first two chapters combined :(

Hell yeah seeing Asriel, as the knight gives me chills, since it’s what i really want to happen mainly so he can become a holy paldian party member since he can’t be the main villain again, and he deserves the screen time the man needs it, also he’s looking like Kris’s, stand power by the way he’s floating lol we just need Kris, pointing with dark aura around him, but i can see Noelle, actually helping him rediscover himself, and make him start to crack the darkness, then Kris, breaks free and hugs him, causing him to break down into tears, and for his outfit to turn white, and green, or blue for happiness since, or purple because that’s associated with the dreemurr’s, then it says Asriel The Soaring Holy Paladin, joins the party, after he collects himself, then either the final dark world, or a couple depending on when we face him down i can honestly see it just depending when we cross paths, who knows, but this is hyping me up, also this is a banger great work.

I don't really think Asriel is the Knight unless there is some plot twist or something that shows that Asriel never went to college. He would have to sneak around town, break into buildings (the School and the Library), and create Dark Fountains without anybody noticing him which is pretty much impossible since everyone knows who he is. But I do think the Knight will be a parallel to Flowey/Asriel though since he was the main antagonist of Undertale.

@@tracey8121 Well in Undertale, Flowey is secretly spying on Frisk for the entire game, and nobody seems to notice him, so in Deltarune he could have the same sneaking capability, like opening dark fountains without people noticing.

Concepts: The Knight and Kris take turns attacking. You can't dodge attacks dealt by Kris. If you try to attack the knight, he gets out of the way and it hits Kris. You still use Kris' SOUL to dodge attacks. ACTs done to The Knight don't do much outside of their first usage, which amplifies the characters' MAGIC abilities, similarly to the King fight. Similarly to the Spamton NEO fight, you can snap Kris' wires, and if all of them are snapped, they regain full control over themselves (or rather, you regain control of Kris) and they fight alongside the rest of the gang. Killing Kris results in a GAME OVER, but the game continues to play out afterwards, essentially locking you into the fight until you eventually die (the fight will never end once Kris dies, and you can't dodge attacks without their SOUL).

I think Susie would be better since we do take her pov in chapter 1 while she was fighting Lancer. And she is one of the main/important characters in the game. Berdly and Noelle are just side characters in my opinion even if they do have some relevance. Also Berdly “dies” and if our choices don't matter then that could mean that he dies later on in the story.

@@cgimichaelmyers2806 interestingly, in the character creation sequence in chapter 1, while you do get a response from the voice(most likely gaster) says "an interesting coincidence" upon naming yourself a lightner character, only the names Kris, Susie and Noelle get a special response from the "voice" saying that "you're about to meet someone wonderful", so I think Noelle is gonna be one of the more important characters and will definitely have some sort of relation to this "Angel".

Berdly is a dude

This is probably my favorite Deltarune song and its not even an official song. I think part of it is the tension of the song matches the scenerio depicted in the picture perfectly. It just perfectly establishes the seriousness of the situation where Kris's friends are trying desperately to free them from the knight.

One thing that intrigues me is the structure of the song, it vaguely in pattern resembles hopes and dreams, with the main melody being played with the chip instrument and then a guitar afterwards.

I can hear the knight vibes in the beginning

Why are their stats so low? Susie would have at least 200 HP by this point.

I assume this is the Pacifist Route. If it was the Weird / Snowgrave Route, they would have higher HP. Or perhaps, the Knight somewhat weakened the girls' strength with a spell.

I feel like that theres a few people that COULD be the knight and people that AREN'T the knight, my main suspect of being the knight is Dess mainly because the bunker can be a dark world (of course we dont know how many dark fountains it takes to release the titans) and she's only opening them as a way to get back to the light world probably due Gaster or one of the titans being the mastermind behind the curtains and telling Dess thats how she gets home due to us having lack of Dess Holiday lore. Ralsei being the knight in my honest opinion is dumb like he could of just told Kris and Susie to open the dark fountains rapidly at castle town like why tell them how to seal them

@@marshalllee6376 ok i have something to counter that statement (hopefully): If the bunker is a dark world the reason its not sealed or Ralsei pointed out its existence is probably because he might not be aware of it's existence because he didn't 'exist' yet, remember all darkners are objects before the dark world is open (The unused classroom and computer lab are PRIME examples) perhaps Ralsei existed after Kris lost the toy horns he was given which might of been after the bunker dark world was created and Dess fell in

@@OniGamer00 wouldn’t he be aware of it once he’s created tho. Like once whoever made him explains that the prescense he feels is the grand fountain, and if he feels another one then that’s and bad should close it, wouldn’t he immediately just go “wait, but there’s like one way down south.”

I think this would actually be a really cool concept, because kris is usually the one telling the members what to do, but here they would have to think for themselves!
