Delta 4-24x50 HD scope. A do-it-all optic?

Спорт

A really versatile scope from Delta Optical. For those who want one rifle to do everything from hunting to long targets, the demands on their scope are high. I've previously recommended the Swarovski X5 series for this but the Delta does the job brilliantly for half the cost. Really recommended scope in 2020

Richard, we miss you. We want to see you more often. I bought a Delta Stryker HD 4.5-30 almost 2 years ago on your recommendation and have been a huge fan ever since. For the money, these scopes can not be equaled. Have even considered trading/selling some IOR's for more Delta's.

My Blaser R8 in .243 sports a Delta Titanium 4.5-30x56 based on a review you gave a while back. I fricking LOVE it. If I get--as I hope, when they allow variations again--a Mauser M12 Impact in 6.5x55, I plan to put another Delta on top.

Goddamned...I had been eyeballing this scope for a few weeks but since I didn’t really need the higher mag range and loads of adjustment range(I put it on a PCP in .22 calibre) and I wasn’t really sure about this new scope I went for the Titanium 2,5-15x56 HD that I got a great deal on. The 4-24x50 was 990€, the 2,5-15x56 is normally 799€ but I got the last one in stock for 667€ and if I bought the older scope the guy gave me 75€ for an old Bresser Spezial Jagd 9x63 pair of binoculars and 125€ for a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x50 riflescope I had laying around anyway. Maybe I missed out on the better scope...but I can tell you this, for this amount of money (467€, I don’t care about the stuff I sold. I wouldn’t sell them to anybody I know...it’s almost embarrassing to take money for them. And I no longer used them) I have a scope that I can’t stop looking through. If this is the future, and I believe it is, the big brands in Germany and Austria are going to have to rethink their business model at least a bit. People will not remain ignorant over brands like this, one day they will come to look through one and start asking some good questions. And the faster the better, we will all benefit from that. No matter what price range you’re shopping in.

Have you tested any of the Falcon optics Richard? been looking at the S18i 3-18x50 FFP with the B24i MIL LINE Illuminated reticle for a .308 target rifle, wanting something that's able to reach out but without breaking the bank, had considered the optisan you had recommended in the budget scope shootout until i seen the Falcon that's in FFP for less than both.

Element Optics is in the same competitive category as Athlon Optics and Vortex. Matt Dubber (AirArms HuntingSA) is one of the designers/owners of that company. Matt only uses high quality stuff such as Nightforce for his optics until recently. The Titan and Nexus line I believe is going to be the next Vortex (or better) because they set out to design optics that have good glass and above all else "tracking". I wish he would have rolled them out about 6 months earlier, as I would have bot one instead of the Athlon Ares BTR GenII for my father. They also have the same kind of warranty as Vortex does. From what I've seen on youtube, they're going to be tough to beat in the price range. $850 for the Titan and $1500 for the Nexus (in USD). I have a Sightron SIII 6-24 x 50 as a comparison to the glass quality and tracking I expect an optic to have. the Funny part is that Richard was the guy who pointed me in the direction of the Sightron SIII, and for the first time in my life, I bot a scope without ever looking through it. Thanks Richard!!

Richard, my fiend and I both purchased the Delta Stryker 50X (2nd focal plane) optic for f class and we like it very much. However, My friend dropped his rifle while cleaning the barrel a few days ago and the parallax is damaged as well as the elevation stem/rotational indicator. He contacted the only distributor in the states but was told parts/service was not available in the USA and Delta will NOT cover this under warranty because it was not a factory defect and that he basically has an expensive paper weight. Is there any recommendations you can give regarding parts and or repair? Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Richard, If a person is primarily shooting targets and hunting inside of say 400 yards, do you think a first focal plane scope is preferable? What a second focal plane scope do just fine if you were limiting yourself to rifles and shooting at 400 yards or less? If not what would be the downside?

  • @RichardUttingSharpshootingUK

I like FFP all the time. Calling correction is just so much faster and easier. People find the rets jump out clearer too. Downsides of FFP are the ret is fine at low mag and thicker at high mag. That's why most 1k BR scopes are fine ret SFP scopes (so that the ret doesn't obscure the target) but honestly i use an FFP (with a modern-design ret) for everything really nowadays

@@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK Well if it wasn’t for the radicals being too thin and fuzzy on the bottom and into thick on the top and they would be absolutely no reason to buy a second focal plane scope. But that’s the issue. If you buy say night force 4-32 FFP I worry that that 8X is just too big for the to be useful at bottom and the top. So it has me wondering if I might want to 4- 32 second focal plane.

I'm a big Delta fan but these turrets are rubbish. You can only have a zero stop on the caped turrets. Use exposed turrets and you have no zero stop. What's the point of that? And the arrangement with the zero line/revolution indicator is also less than Ideal. I can almost guarantee that by the time the hunt is over you will not know exactly where your zero is.
