Delicious Wagyu Hotpot in Kyoto Japan

Dining at a Wagyu specialty restaurant in Kyoto Japan where you have an amazing view!
We ordered Sukiyaki course for the first part and Oiru Yaki (pan fried steak) course for the second part.
Both of these are cooked by a server in a Kimono (traditional Japanese garment) at your table!
Moritaya @ Kyoto Station
Budget: $35~$99+usd a person

You can always tell by how popular the place is and that it will be slightly more expensive when the menu is mostly English.

Owariya, also known as Honke Owariya, is the oldest restaurant in Kyoto, Japan. It was founded in 1465 and is currently owned by Ariko Inaoka, who follows in the tradition of her father and grandfather. The restaurant's specialty is traditional buckwheat noodles called soba, and it uses the "freshest" Kyoto spring well water to make its soup broth. Japan's royal family has been known to eat at the restaurant. Owariya is located near Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace, approximately 5 minutes' walk from Karasuma-oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway. The restaurant has a quaint, old-fashioned atmosphere that attracts many foreign and Japanese tourists.

The risk is very low to get salmonella poisoning from raw egg. During the salmonella peak it was 1 in 20,000 eggs that were contaminated. But its less now. I dont eat raw egg regularly but if im baking or making omelettes i dont mind eating raw or undercooked egg. As long as you arent consuming a massive amount of eggs per year the risk is very low. But better safe then sorry. Egg is a huge part of japanese cuisine so they have to ensure eggs are safe while in other countries raw egg isnt part of our cultures.

A few things I give Japan credit for and that is their healthy food options are very affordable, even for the poor. They also have many different ways of cooking and preparing those healthier food options to make them into desired tastes and meals without making them unhealthy to the point they are high is calories, high in unhealthy fats, etc... though I notice they do tend to use a lot of salt. In any case wish the U.S. would put more emphasis on making every day heathy options cheap. As always, love seeing Mrs. Bacon.... her face reactions always make me smile.
