He was a big influence on the Beatles and a lot of the Merseybeat bands.I love his music, my friend and producer Dave Edmunds tried to work with him in the late 70s but Del was in a dark place.Prozac finally drove him over the edge. What a talent, what a loss.I still cry when I hear "Little Town Flirt", and I'm 71! Bless you Del, I pray you'r at peace , you'l never be forgotten as long as your records are played.❤😢

Would have been pretty hard to get anything to sound right on the windy beach with the equipment we had in the 60s. Even most of the TV stuff was "canned" because the sets were mostly bigass warehouses with multiple shows being taped some, or even a lot, times. Would have sounded awful.

Three of the songs I loved most from my childhood were "Runaway," "Little Town Flirt," and "Keep Searching." Del Shannon was one of the best, and you're right; taken too soon. I felt good watching this video, but I felt a little melancholy, too.

Michael Neely I don't believe they are the Young Sisters. the Young Sisters were 3 Italian girls with dark hair. there are 5 girls in white and 1 in a dark shirt. you can find Del Shannon singing in front of the same building with 9 dancers (2 or 3 male).

Del made some truly great records in the early sixties. Unfortunately he was around at the wrong time. From 1964 onwards everyone was obsessed with The Beatles and the so called British invasion. Many great American artists struggled during this period, many simply faded away. Only Elvis and perhaps Roy Orbison managed to buck this trend. I understand the Ronettes sang the backing vocals on this disc, just before they met Phil Spector and recorded Be My Baby,

Del wanted to be known for new music - not just his oldies. In his garage, he built a small soundproof recording booth to cut demos in. The industry, though, ignored him. Eventually he'd only go in there to close the door, shut off all the lights and drink his demons away in total darkness 'til he passed out. He called that room -- The Mole Hole. After he finally got rights back on his old hits, Del established his own publishing company. And what did he FIRST name it? Mole Hole Music.
