Defending The One Two Hook - Using a Shift and a Pivot. Tom Yankello of the @World Class Boxing Channel teaches you how to defend the one two hook with two parries and a pivot shift. First you parry the jab with the right hand, then parry the right hand with the left hand, and from there you will defend the hook by turning your hips while you move up and over to your left. You will be moving in a north west direction. This puts you in position to throw the left hook and then up the middle. By shifting and pivoting, you remove yourself from the line of attack and avoid getting hit by the hook and you put yourself into position to hit your opponent with the right hand and left hook. Tom then goes into explanation of the proper boxing footwork to perform these moves. He explains what a trainer should be looking for while training his fighter. Tom then gives you a bonus at the end by showing you how to use footwork to get closer while using the parry. He shows how these moves really get you closer to your opponent to be able to effectively hit him.
