Defending Against The Standing Guard Break In Jiu Jitsu

Ойын-сауық

Today we cover what to do when our opponent try’s to do a standing guard pass.
It is okay to open up our guard and go straight to open guard BUT! Here are some options I like to try before we get to that point.
Let me know in the comment section if this helps you all out.

Best "defending against stand up guard breaks" video on You Tube right now. You've literally laid out a sweep for the most common scenarios like a "mini system" that is easy to remember. As a blue belt, these are 3 sweeps I know but the biggest challenge is knowing which one to do when. Thank you for a helpful and informative video!

Good stuff! There's a double-attack in the opposite direction from that first hip-twister sweep: Flip around to an omoplata and take them forward.

Chad the BEAST Great video. I agree with some of the other comments this is perhaps the most concise and best video about defense against standing in your guard. Keep up the great work.I’m a new fan💥

Hey Beast, in a future vid could you go through a kneebar attack from this position? I can catch it but my opponent ends up falling forward. Then I can't finish the thing or find a clean way to come up on top.

In a street fight if he were to punch to your groin, what are some ways to defend against the punch?

Thank you! The last one you showed where you grab both heels: my coach said it might be easy for the opponent to get a heel hook or leg lock since I would be falling right into it... Do you agree?

acrobatman yup, I never do this one in no gi. You can push with your feet. Or you can keep your feet locked the entire time to try and stop it. If they stand up in no gi my first option is to let go and attack their legs.

Lanky fight gear really needs to improve their gis. I use there a3lt and it fits perfect but it’s so thick and stiff I find myself wearing my kingz way more often if though it’s a bit small

@@ChadtheBeastHardy i went with the 550 thinking it would loosen up after a few washes but its stayed really stiff i'm sure the 350 is better.

Does it not sprain your ankles keeping them crossed under your opponent?

Octo pus it doesn’t bother me at all. Maybe if they are bigger. It’s more uncomfortable for the person on bottom.
