On july 16 2012 The world lost a Rock Legend and i cried for someone i never met, but for a person that i loved very much..You will be missed by many & remembered forever, be at peace Mr Lord ..Jon Lord, who fused classical and heavy metal to make Deep Purple one of the biggest rock bands in the world, died Monday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 71. Lord suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism, or a blockage of the lung artery, according to a statement posted on his website.
Born in Leicester, England, on June 9, 1941, Lord took classical music lessons as a child, and as a teen became enamored with the sound of the blues organ.
Later, he was among the first musicians to successfully and seamlessly blend the two influences using a Hammond C3 organ, distorting the sound, and routing it through amplifiers. While best known for co-writing the Deep Purple hit, "Smoke on the Water," Lord never strayed far from his classical roots. The band's "Concerto for Group and Orchestra" in 1969 was one of many chart successes

Tommy was a fantastic guitarist and had a nice personality. Deep Purple had a successful tour of America in 1976 and I am surprised this is never highlighted. More MK 4 Deep Purple material of live recordings should be released to show what a great musician Tommy actually was.

I was a very good friend of Tommy's from '69 til he died and I and a lot of other people agree with you. A couple of weeks before his death he told me how he was going to quit his current management. Then all the weird things surrounding the death...I wish someone would investigate.

First notice that Bolin could have been slain. Could you imagine Hendrix murdeded by someone ?As a good friend of Bolin, you should know how deep was him involved in heroin.

I'm convinced that Tommy Bolin's death was NOT an accident,Tommy should still be with us.But the truth will come out, there should be an investigation, and set the record straight.I'm not mentioning names, but some people that worked with Tommy at the time when Tommy's career was really taking off from the James Gang to Purple might have been getting jealous and were threatened by tommy's succsess when i say people that worked with Tommy i don't mean the band.Read the book by Greg Prato about Tommy

YOu didn't want to play in Franco Spain because you feared a similar situation, but you did in Indonesia which was another bloody dictatorship.
