Machine Head is a masterpiece of Hard Rock . I believe it is Deep Purple’s greatest album.....
Deep Purple in Rock is their best in my opinion. Child in Time is my favourite.

"Smoke On The Water" live version, i love it, because the live version have that energy to play many times, the studio version is nice too.

So true. When I want to listen to Machine Head, I put on Made In Japan. MIJ is the greatest live rock album of all time, and every track from it tops their studio counterpart.
I am very glad that this Album came out. The recordings of April 16th, 1971 were made by me and given to Deep Purple 3 Years ago.
I'm still a fan of Deep Purple to this day (but I also listen to Linkin Park or Nickelback etc.). In 1972 I was 13 years old and already had long hair because of Deep Purple. Their music always takes me back to my youth.

I had Machine Head and asked for Made in Japan for Christmas when it was released. My Dad surprised me and listened to all 4 sides on his badass stereo system Christmas morning! We were jamming.
I absolutely love this album and it's definitely a classic however In Rock is always going to be my favorite!!

In the summer of 1972, my brothers next-door neighbor had the deep purple machine head album and the first song I heard from them on Machinehead at my brothers next-door neighbors home was smoke on the water! That was when I heard pure hard rock at its best entering my blood inside of me, and since then I’ve been buying every deer that you can ever imagine! Yesterday I bought the machine head 50th anniversary box set and it’s totally totally awesome!
Made in Japan/ Made in Europe Their studio albums were fantastic but they're live albums really stood out.

Meanwhile outside Cleveland, the local radio stations has it on repeat. Any station any time, flip thru and smoke on the water was playing. As a young teenager it did turn me on to Frank Zappa. 😏
For me, the best line-up is of course Mark 2, followed by my favorite Marks 7 and 8.

52nd Anniversary! I have a previous Anniversary edition on CD. The Classic Albums DVD edition about Machine Head,is worth seeking out. The previous Machine Head Live CD,is worth tracking down,if you’re strapped for cash.. It’ll be interesting to see what Rhino do with the Burn (actually released 50 years ago) Stormbringer & Come Taste The Band. Of course the next in line should be Who Do We Think We Are!
